We loved being at the Alonso, the staff was great and clarified all our doubts. The room was spacious, and with clean towels every two days. The only "negative" aspect was that there was no kitchen available, but, with the money you save by staying in a so central place, you have lots of options as long as you are just in the zero km of Madrid. By night, there is a litlle bit of noise comming from the street but that's part of the central location of the hostel. Great Stay!!

Excelent location! Everything was clean. The only problem was I could not connect my smartphone to the Internet. Other than that, a great hostel. Familiar environment, so there is attention to clients, and the location is just awesome! Almost everything is within walking distance.

I arrived at the hostel building but nobody was there to open the door for me. I rang the bell many times without success. I also called by phone, also without success. I had to go to another hostel and then i wrote to alonso asking what happened, and they answered that due a family issue they had to go to hospital and nobody was there. Also they said that i arrived 30minutes earlier than i said. Thats why nobody was there. But they could have written a note or email to me. Bad experience.

ridiculous place to hang out besides your dark cold room. it's a family business, meaning the staff live in the hostel in a low profile. it almost gets awkward when you run into others in the corridors. quite old, beds in bad condition and overused linen. no hooks in the bathrooms. otherwise, great choice by its location if you're on a budget and don't plan to stay in during the day.

Impressed by how quiet it was although noise from the street late at night could be problematic. Best to get a room away from the main street. Staff very helpful .

Really nice place and nice stuff. A little cold during the night as the temperatures dropped. Located in the centre, outside always people around (even at night :) ) but we liked the atmosphere. We would return!

This is a very good place for people who only want to stay near the city center paying few money for the stay. We're a young couple, and we think that for us, for our convenience it was perfect. The room was old fashioned, the walls a little bit dirty, and the floor (in wooden style) very noisy and old. However, the room was clean, the towells, the bed sheet, the cushion ...all of them were clean. The mattress was firm and comfortable. GREAT Value city centre-money-comfort

At first we got a room that smelled a bit like cigarette smoke, as non-smokers we hate this. So I went to the reception, tried to explain (in poor Spanish) and see if they could get us another room. This was no problem! We got a great more expensive room at no extra charge :-) The nice woman also held our bags for an afternoon until we had to go to the airport. Great place to stay in Madrid.

This is a perfect hostel for a trip to madrid. It is superbly located in the city center (5 minutes walking to puerta de sol) and the staff is extremely helpful and kind. There is no common room, nor is there a kitchen. However, the rooms and bathrooms are always clean and warm.
