Excellent staff, rooms, showers, location, and terrace with a view of the mountains. One of the better hostels I've ever stayed at, and would stay there again definitely in the future!
Hostel Antigua is a nice, well-kept hostel. They have nice medium size lockers, in the dorm. Their guest kitchen is clean and well stocked with pots and pans. The fact the hostel is only twenty-six feet wide restricts their options for their site plan. The rooftop is comfortable, but surrounded by walls. The 12pac dorm is crowded and has little room for backpacks.
We were "upgraded" to another hotel which was awful. Loud, cramped and a bit smelly. Worst night sleep in Guatemala. Be careful if you are also upgraded. Would not recommend.
Overall this hostel is pretty good. Very clean and the ladies who work the day are really helpful and nice. The toilet in our dorm room didnt flush, which was really discusting. Especially sharing a dorm with 11 others. The guy who works nights is rediculously creepy. Every 15 minutes we would look up and see him standing outside our window staring in. He would limit how many cogarettes my friend was allowed to go outside for. All common areas are off limits after 10pm. Not a party hostel.
Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a clean and organized place to sleep. It's very quiet overall ... Lacks a little atmosphere however meets the needs of a back pack traveler.

This hostel is a bit pricier than other places but it is money well spent. If you're looking for a party hostel this is the wrong place. It's very quiet here and there is a late night curfew - though most bars in Antigua shut at 1am so this is not a big deal. The communal kitchen is the cleanest that I've seen on my travels and the room had REAL hot water. The rooms are cleaned daily. The location is great, one block south of the main square.
Old mate on the desk at night couldn't speak a word of English, which made it very difficult when my flight was delayed and I was going to miss my airport shuttle, however after emailing Maria did a great job of ensuring the driver would be there to collect me on time.
