The staff could not have been more friendly and really made our stay relaxing. Hostal Barrera is in a perfect location for visiting the Prado and other galleries. It was spotlessly clean and although basic that is reflected in the price.

Hostal Barrera was a brilliant location and a superbly run establishment in particular because of the gracious, warm, friendly people who are the face of the accommodation. Whenever I had a question it was never a problem for the hostess to explain in depth or to advise with wisdom and insight the places to eat, how to find my way or the things I might consider doing.

Excellent and friendly staff. Very helpful to us and spoke English as we are non-Spanish speaking travelers.

This place was absolutely spotless and those working there are delightful. They couldn't be kinder or more helpful, and they speak English too, a real bonus. Everything seems to be new and well looked after. If I were young i would gladly stay there again, as it is, I now feel I want a little more from a place. But as a student I would have been absolutely thrilled to be able to stay there. It is so close to Atocha and there are lots of eating places within a very short distance.

I simply LOVED Hostal Barrera. The facilities were impeccable and the staff was wonderful! Very nice and helpful. They have maps and information available. The rooms are more like hotel rooms than a typical hostel. Very spacious and clean with beautiful bathrooms. Hotel quality with hostel price and great location! Being close to Atocha is very helpful if you plan to travel around by train or to the airport (there is a bus for 5 euro that takes you right to the airport from Atocha).

Hostel Barrera is an excellent hostel. The room was beautiful and comfortable. It was more like a small hotel than a hostel. I was very pleased with my stay here, and I would recommend it to other travelers who are looking for a safe and comfortable hostel in Madrid.

This is a fantastic hostel with excellent facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. It"s in a perfect location for many of Madrid"s famous landmarks. The airport is 40mins approx away by bus ( 5 euros per person) or 30 euros taxi ride.

The hostel is very well located (near atocha's metro station), very close to the center of madrid. The staff were very kind, accessful and helpful, available 24 hours a day. The room was very clean, small but included everything i needed- private toilet and bath, free wifi inside the room, tv, comfortable bed. The hostel is very quiet and warm. If you don't plan on staying in the hostel most of the day, it will be perfect for your needs.
