beautiful, generous rooms, you feel good. very good value for money.
I booked a private double online but when I arrived they said they had no availability. The staff was nice about it and called other hostels around Cerro Allegre to find a room, but I ended up having to stay in a 6 bed dorm in another hostel. Seemed like a nice place, just too bad they couldn't keep track of reservations.

Lovely clean hostel, hot water seemed to be available all the time which is great for Chile! Staff were fantastic, located at the top of Cerro Alegre right in the heart of the UNESCO zone and some good bars and cafes and only a 10 min walk to the big at the docks. Breakfast was OK, bit of a strange service style but you get there eventually, all in all would stay here again as location is perfect.
It was a nice room. All was clean from the kitchen to the bathroom. Well situated on cerro alegre. The breakfast was poor. Orange juice was mixed with water. No coffee available.
We liked everything, except the kitchen (too small) and the breakfast they offered, very poor.
This was a lovely place. More like a B&B feel than a hostel. We had a double room with an amazingly comfortable bed. Bathroom was shared but really clean and we never had to wait. The staff were lovely!! We were greeted by a lovely man who let us check in at 9am! They also have a great cafe attached to the hostel which serves amazing scrambled egg with ham and the chef was so friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here!
Nicely decorated hostel, good breakfast, comfortable bed and good cleanliness, shower temperature was okay. Helpful staff that were accomodating after a problem with our room (we would recommend paying the extra and staying in a room with a double bed, avoid the twin room) Wifi would come and go, unsure if kitchen was available for use.
The location of the hostel is great and the staff very helpful. The rooms are spacious, and those with private bathroom are particularly nice. The rooms on the street (without bathroom) can be noisy though due to the cobbled streets, but the beds are comfy, so overall a good night's sleep. The rooms are clean, and cleaned daily, which is great. The hot water proved troublesome, which was disappointing given the price, but in the end this was resolved via an appropriate discount. Coffee is great!
The kitchen wasn't very good. Only a hot plate for cooking. The breakfast was good. Fruit bread and a piece of cake and a smoothie. Great location. No wifi in our room.
The new owner has started to run a restaurant inside the hostel. So there are room downstairs almost inside the pizzeria which are effected by smell and noise. The music was turned on loudly until 11 pm or later, although there were no guest remaining in the restaurant. We had to ask the staff several times to turn down the noise. The room called "kitchen" is poorly equipped and located on the first floor. The fridge is downstairs, which doesn't really make sense. It's a pity ....
Amazing Breakfast including chocolate crepes, fruits, coffee, juice, toast. Very artistic place with unique features like art all over the walls, very typical of Valparaiso. A little bit pricey for what it was, but overall a good experience.
The breakfast was very good! They were really nice to wait for us allthough wie just arrived at 9 p.m.

Helpful staff/owner. Good familiar atmosphere!!
The hostel has a cool "onda" (vibe) - the walls are covered with colorful oil painting portraits. The breakfast was one of the best I've had staying in Chile. We were there in winter and it was very quiet. A little on the pricey side for what it is, but definitely a pleasant stay and you can't beat the location.... a cobblestone street on Cerro Alegre.
The only thing that I did not like was that they only take cash for final payment.

Beautiful big rooms and great breakfast! I will definitely be returning to this hostel, which feels more like a hotel!
The hostel has a great atmosphere as it is full of the owner´s paintings and art works. Almost any object (plates, fridge, tiles, etc.) is decorated by his paintings which gives you the feeling of living in a museum. When we arrived at the hostel, it was overbooked but the landlady offered us to stay in her private apartment only few blocks away from the hostel. That was actually an upgrade as the apartment is situated right in front of "Ascensor Concepción" (sea view). Great customer service!
This was easily the best breakfast we've ever had in a hostel. Rooms are secure and facilities are very clean, the staff are very helpful. Only issue was that no staff members spoke English well, but were very helpful and patient with our broken Spanish. It also feels as though you are intruding a little bit into their house. Highly recommend this hostel.
After the initial scare with a double booking, the owners really pulled out the stops, they put us up in an aparment a few blocks away, a private room and ensuite wit a view to die for. All at the same price as the lesser room we booked. Location is excellent right in the windy streets, the staff very friendly and helpful. The main holding and apartment are filled with the owners paintings and sculptures which add to the ambiance of Valpo.
