We loved Otavalo and also loved Hostel Dona Esther. Hostal Dona Esther was so beautiful and extremely clean. Our experience with the staff we met was extremely good. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that there was no televisions in any of the rooms only in the sitting area on the first floor. When we travel and turn in for the night, we really enjoy watching some television. Also there was a problem we encountered, but the owners handled it very professionally & to my satisfac

Everything was fine and I would stay there again. The rooms are drafty and need an addition to the bottom of the door which is about two inches high. The terrace door was loose and very drafty as well but over all a good value at a fair low price. I really appreciate the 24 hr. hot water as do most spoiled Americans. Buy yourselves a Paja Toquilla (misnomered as a Panama Hat) or some other great indigenous made articles! While you're at it visit the Parque Condor.

A bit overprice, at this price, they should provide free breakfast

Dona Esther in Otavalo is a really lovely hostel, well set up with a restaurant conveniently on-site with great food. Highly recommended.

Great hotel located in central Otavalo within walking distance of the famous Saturday Markets - 20min to animal market. Staff were friendly and knowledgeably providing good advice for the Early morning Animals markets along with various other sights around Otavalo. Hotel has spacious and clean rooms with comfortable beds, good pillows and hot showers. Wifi was decent only in downstairs common areas. Restaurant was outstanding and highly recommended. Rooftop terrace also offered nice views.

We loved Hostel Dona Esther! It is a beautiful green haven in the middle of the city. The staff is adorable! The restaurant is organic, gourmet---wonderful! Would love to return.

The place is gorgeous, quiet, clean and safe. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Even getting up before 6:00 a.m. to hail a taxi so we could go early to the animal market. The location is perfect as well - an easy walk from the bus station and a few blocks off the main square. Just a great all-around value and a wonderful find.

The hotel is run by dutch people.

Nice hostal in a central part of Otavalo. Comfortable room. We had a good meal in the restaurant. Note that breakfast is not included.

We enjoyed staying here so much. Normally when i travel for business I dont stay at a hostel because i need the security of knowing stuff in my room is safe. But with you guys it was never a concern. Jose and his wife were very hospitable and went out of there way to help how they could. As did you Wendy! you were amazing, with all your information thank you!

Unfortunately we didn’t actually stay at the Dona Esther despite booking a room through Hostalworld – the hostal was full and had not updated the website quickly enough. However, the receptionist (Lucy) was very apologetic and helpful and called another hostal to find us a room (it was a Friday and the first night of the annual Otavalo fiesta, so unsurprising that the town was busy). The hostal did look nice though, and if the staff are as helpful as Lucy was, I’m sure it would be a good choi

We loved this hostel, nice atmosphere and good food in the restaurant, would recommend the hostel to visitors to the town.

very sweet little hotel - lots of character - good restaurant too

It was a really cute hostel and the room and bathroom were both very clean. The only thing that was missing was a safe in the room.

Near the center of town this hostal was very nice and clean. We had our own bath and a nice compfy bed that was open to the central court yard. Very relaxed feeling. There was even a little restaurant that served very good food. The only drawback for Hostal DE was it was a little pricey, but the cleanliness and comfort made it feel like a home away from home. Well worth the stay.

Hostal Doña Esther is a real quaint place with an open inner courtyard. Located right between the main square and the iglesia and close to the artesian market which sprawls throughout town. They had a live band playing indigenous music the Friday night we stayed. Nice view from rooftop patio, too. Quiet at night; real hot water.

great hotel with an excellent hot water situation, the town itself is quiet but really nice place to stay.

need space heaters and television otherwise we really enjoyed our stay, I would definetely stay again

Nice restaurant, great pizza. Traditional decor, nice place to relaz for a few days, definitely not a party place.

This is a beautifully maintained hostal, with comfortable rooms, great location, sweet local staff.
