We had a very enjoyable one night stay in Hostal El Balcon del Valle. The room was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very much at home. The shower was good and hot. For us, the location was perfect as it was just a few streets outside the very busy centre of Salta and there was ample street parking for our rental car right outside the door. For those not driving, it was only around 15-20 pesos (and around 7-8 minutes) to get into the town centre via taxi.

Stayed at the Balcon del Valle for one night as we passed through Salta but promptly fell in love with the place. Definitely worth at least a full day exploring and Mt San Bernando is well worth a trip. The owner John was welcoming, helpful and keen to extoll the virtues of Salta. The hostel is clean, quiet and comfortable, a safe 10-15 minute walk from the central square but the opposite side from the bus station (25-30min walk) (taxis are very cheap though if you dont fancy the walk). Thanks !

John the owner is a wonderful host and made me feel quite welcome. His English is excellent. . It is just a short walk downtown but far enough away that it is fairly quiet at night. Enough small stores , restaurants and a park are nearby make it a good location. The hostel itself is an elegant old building with lots of rich wood, tiles and a nice courtyard garden.

Quiet hostal with very gregarious owner-he was able to book us a wine tour at last minute notice and was very keen to be as helpful as possible! Location a 12 minute walk from town but overall a good place to stay in Salta

We loved our stay at el Balcon del Valle because of the proprietor John. He was always there to greet us with a big smile when we got back, was a wealth of excellent information and recommendations about the area and was a friendly and entertaining host. The location of the hostel is a fair walk out of town, however this makes it a quiet location and better for getting a good nights sleep.

The staff was extremely helpful during check in and assisting us to rent a car. The room was clean, and breakfast was tasty. Very comfortable place to stay.
