Excellent information from the owners. Could not ask for more. Incredibly friendly. Amazing kitchen (best I have seen travelling). Very nice garden and relaxation area. Good location. Only problem we had was the privacy. The doors have gaps and you can hear everything. Same for the bathrooms which are right next to the living area and kitchen. Also we had noisy neighbours nextdoor, but we have had that problem in the whole of Colombia. Apart from that, excellent.

LOVE this place. it´s like a hostal and home all in one! they recycle and reuse. share food and drinks like fresh homemade bread and juice. are very nice, personable, helpful, talkative when you´re interested, but leave you alone when you´re not. it´s amazingly quiet at night - silent. 23 max guests, and normally not very full, so plenty of space. free filtered water. i could go on and on. i went for 2 nights, stayed 4, and plan to return... THANK YOU!

Great staff, kitchen, and facilities! The hostel was about 4 blocks from the noisy plaza, so you can sleep well! i definitely recommend it!

Originally I planned to stay 2 days in San Gil. But reasoned by the options you can do around San Gil and especially caused by the wonderful atmosphere in the El Papillon, which is runned by a lovely couple (he from Switzerland, she from Colombia), I enlarged my stay to 6 days. Clean, quiet (no traffic around), 10 minutes walk to the main plaza, english-french-spanish speaking owner, familiy atmosphere, garden with hangmocks, fresh selfmade bread every day, best rates for tours. Thanks! Stephan.
