The breakfasts here are delicious. The staff members go out of their way to be friendly. They are so personable! The building is labrynthine and cool. This is not a party hostel, but it is a social hostel. I met so many lovely people. Most cities depress me -- example, Buenos Aires and Mendoza -- but Santiago made me so so happy. The Chileans are so friendly. What a delightful hostel. -- Garth el Canadiense

Amazing hostel, great kitchen and rooms! Super clean with awsome bathrooms, chill out room and fast wi-fi all around the big building it's in. Super close to all the great things Santiago has to offer. Amazing staff and an overall great stay. Highly recommended hostel! Would go back!

Bathrooms and kitchen were nice and clean. Carpet in the dorm rooms is a bit strange. The BBQ area is nice for meeting people, though some of the windows of the dorm rooms face the patio and it can stay loud pretty late if you're trying to sleep. Five minute walk to Pio Nono and easy access to the subway.

Despite the common areas were lovely, the bedroom didn´t look nice. It smelt odd and the bed was uncomfortable. Towels were not included. They have few bathrooms, only 4 for 20 bedrooms with several beds each. Anyway, the location is pretty good. The check in is very late, at 1 pm. The staff was kinde but very noisy at night.

Hostal was noisy unttl 5 am Rooms were dirty and unattractive

Without doubt the worst hostel we have stayed in during 3 months. The room was dirty, especially the bathroom. The whole building is very tired and needs rewiring and generally cheering up. We found the staff friendly in the main but when there was an electrical fault in our room, they were dismissive and we had to be very persistent in getting them to take action. Added to this, we had people throwing up in the corridor outside our room at 4am on 2 nights out of 3.

The rating would have been much more positive if we were able to sleep at night. Unfortunately all the three nights of our stay have been doomed by shout, loughing loud music produced by other guests, till 1 a.m. or later. The personnel was not able to enforce the rules that were posted on the door of the rooms. no noise after 11 pm.

I stayed at Hostal Forestal twice, and everything was perfect. it's brilliantly managed, everything is clean, orderly and well maintained. Great wifi, pool table, BBQ. The staff are super helpful, well informed, basically a bunch of really cool people who give the hostel a great vibe. The BEST staff you can ever hope to meet- Kika, Michael, Edo... you guys are amazing! Thanks for everything. The perfect base in Santiago. Very Highly Recommended!

Don't get the high rating, it's just a honest hostel for the price. The setup of the hostel is not good, there is not really a living room to socialize with people, you are mostly going to socialize in the kitchen when people are making their food. The breakfast is taken till 10h30 and you are literally kicked out of the kitchen at this hour by the cleaning lady !! And she will make sure you wash your dishes properly, making comments if necessary; what a stress !

Hi Serge, As it says at the door of the kitchen, breakfast is until 10 am. The cleaning lady has to make sure everything is clean for the lunch time, that's why at 10:30 she asked you to leave the kitchen for a while. If you have the possibility to return to Santiago, i invite you to come back to our hostel, we have 2 terraces and an full equiped tv room, i will personaly make sure you can spend time with other passengers there. Take Care! Take Care!

This place exemplifies why I love hostels. The staff and owners are really cool, they always have great music playing in the common room, and there was a great crowd there at the same time as me.

Forestal's central location is ideal for traveling quickly around the city by all modes of transportation. It's a close walk to Plaza de Armas too! The staff is amazing, helpful and friendly, they helped me with arranging aiport transfers and suggestions on what to do if I'm low on ideas. The hostel is very secure and safe. Hot water with strong water pressure in the showers. Living room + TV, pool tables, mini patio, fully useable kitchen, this place had it all! Sad to leave it! Book it!

Hostal Forestal was in an ideal location. Short walk to plaza de armas and a stone's throw away from Bellavista. The staff were extremely helpful. Rosa does a good breakfast. One morning we even had home made cake. There's free internet access and several social areas. There's lockers in the rooms to keep your stuff in. I had a great stay here.

There is no point on having rules on noise curfew being 10:30pm and then allowing people to party all night. 1-2am is acceptable, but not 4, 5, 6am and still going at midday. Also allowing smoking inside when it says the rooms and common areas are non-smoking. The staff didn't even try to ask them to keep the noise down. Plain rude!
