Family run large, basic and quiet hostel. The older guy who helped us out gave us a map and pointed out areas of interests in both La Serena and Coquimbo. There is a nice patio area to have breakfast or other meals if you are saving money. The breakfast was sufficient and the owners served us breakfast when we had to leave early for a tour. There is no parking but there is the bus terminal 2 blocks from the hostel and you can leave your car overnight for $1.500.

An old converted school guesthouse. Our ensuite was small, shower reminded me of India with the Hot water Geyser but unlike India it was not electric,had to be ignited from outside. Rooms face the narrow courtyard which also serves as secondary breakfast area. We were opposite a shared bathroom across from us and it can be noisy when guest enter/leave it feeling they are the only ones in Hostal. Breakfast was adequate and on par with most others. BIG + is they are give seniors discount.
