We booked this hostel solely for it's proximity to the airport since we got in to Lima late and had an early morning flight the next day to Cuzco. This is it's only redeeming quality, otherwise the hostel was very unappealing, tiny tiny rooms and all four of us could barely get to sleep due to dirt/allergens in the room - we were all up coughing/sniffling. Very small/squeezed space. Also would not feel safe in the neighbourhood. I almost wish we'd slept in the airport instead.
Close to airport, but impossible to find taxi that would take you straight to hostel! "Taxi-mafia" claimed it was impossible (forbidden) to take the shortest route to hostel, but said we had to take a loong detour, while trying to talk us into changing hostels to one where he obviously received commission. Taxi driver: "Las Fresas is a bad place in a very dangerous area" and blablabla... We insisted on going to Fresas but ended up paying 39 soles=expensive! Try arrange pick-up before arrival!
If you're going to be picked up from the airport, ask for Jose. He's a super nice guy with excellent English and a good sense of humor. Talking with him really improved my trip.
