Nice, welcoming and very helpful ! That's how I can evaluate the staff overthere. I arrived late at night and was very happy to meet them. They advise me about a nice place to have dinner and the places to visit. The living is also a good place to exchange with other travellers and go out with new friends. The hostal is located in a very nice area and closed to different bars and clubs. I really enjoy my stay !

Well placed, really good atmosphere, the hostel is really clean, we met really nice people, good breakfast. It's cheap and we spent a really good night ! I recommend this place to every travellers who like meet people and have fun !!!

I had the best time in licanantay even thought i stayed just for one night. Great location next all bars and. shops, bigs beds, friendly staff, very clean and.... No check out time !!! I felt like home.

Licanantay,an excelente place to stay in Valparaíso. It was already my 2nd stay & both times I had a great time.The Staff is very helpful&also great to party with.The hostel is perfectly placed,next to bars, restaurants, a small market of vegetables and fruits and Shops opened late to buy alcohol and snacks.The rooms are colourful & beautifully set up.beds are comfortable & the showers are warm & nice.I can only recommend the stay here, you'll get to know amazing people & have the best time.thx

If you're searching for a place to stay in valparaiso, this is the place! near to the bars, an atmosphere incredible and a pure crazy staff. if you want to enjoy chile you have to go here!

If you want a run down crack den... then this is the place for you!! Dirty, run down with disinterested staff. The night I was there there was an all night party, still going strong at 8am! Staff where no where to be seen in fact I think that they were just as much part of the party! By the morning there were broken toilets, no hot water a destroyed kitchen and plenty of alcohol and drugs floating about. When I left I 8.30am there were no staff and no sign of breakfast! Not recomended!

If you are looking for a party this hostel is great. Eclectic mix of characters and managemnet. However, as with any party orientated hostel things tended to fall apart. Small kitchen that was often left unclean and the actual building is very small. We did, however, have an idea of what we were getting ourselves into so qwe had a great time. If you do not mind being kept up or are keen for a party this hostel is fine.

We spend 2 nights in the hostel. Facilities are ok but cleanliness are not the best. Avarange breakfast and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Staff was funny and friendly, there was a good atmosphere in the hostel.

absolutely amazing here! had one of the best weeks of my life. really didn't want to leave. the vibe and the people were just so much fun that it felt like a trip with mates i had known forever, not just met! much love to Danny, the man who made it!

Licanantay is a MUST if you are about to visit Valparaiso. The building has a really bohemic style and it is located next to the bars, shops and touristic atraccions.the staff makes everybody feel welcome!!i will definitely come back! thanks guys!!!!

Hostal Licanantay lived up to its reputation on the hostel world website with its top pick recognition. On my arrival I was greeted by Gonzalo the friendly and accomodating owner who offered me a free glass of pisco. The hostel has a bohemian feel with a good mixture of guests and staff of different nationalaties. The staff are knowledgeable on the area and often take you out on night outs and give you impartial advice on the best value trips. The hostel is also in a great centeral location.

I couldnt stay at Licanantay Hostel because aparently there was a problem with the reservation system and when we got there they told us that we couldnt stay because they were out of beds and we had to find hospedation in other hostel. I was very dissapointed because of this problem. At least the gave me back my money instantly. I dont know if this is a problem of the hostel or of hostelworld, but it was a really bad experience.

Had a great time and really felt like I was hanging out with friends.

Great location near lots of bars on Ecuador street and the staff were really nice. The facilities and cleanliness were not as good as other hostels I've stayed at though. They could also do with more staff as quite often there was no one to let people in.

We have mixed feelings about this hostel, there were amazing people when we stayed there and the beds are huge!! We did get some bed bug bites the last night, and asked to be in the 6 bedroom dorm, but were put in a 12 bedroom dorm with 14 people. There are lockers but half of the locks are torn off, so not much security for half the guests. There is a tiny kitchen, were there is not enough room for people to have breakfast and always a wait for the bathrooms.

My stay at Licantay was amazing! The hostel is in a perfect location to get to nightlife, without having to hear it. It's big enough to be a "party hostel" but small enough that you get to know everyone and can make friends easily. The staff were super welcoming and friendly, and one morning they cooked a delicious pancake breakfast with tons of fresh fruit - way better than any other hostel breakfast I've had in my 5 months of S. American travel. Would definitely go back, and recommend it :)
