The wi-fi worked great anywhere in the hostal, and television was good selections, but none of the channels were in English. The room and bathroom were spacious, but unfortunately very musty smelling. The fan was fine for staying comfortable in the building. Mosquitoes were a problem as in most Central and South American countries, \"screens\" do not exist. Only a couple employees speak any English, Nelson is fluent ( owners son I believe) and he is quite helpful. Tena is a very safe place.

Overall, I would rate this Hostel as above average except for the fact that it is rather overpriced for Ecuador and exceptionally so for Tena, Ecuador. Nonetheless the hostel delevers a quality product. It is very comfortable and the showers maintain the delivery of hot water for as long as needed. There is some street noise but it is not overly obnoxious. Travelers who want to purchase a nights rest with most of the north american amenities of a hotel will be pleased with Hostal Los Yutzos.

The hostal was nice. a very pleasant place to stay and nice for a break in the amazon in a town but with trees and river surrounding. the problem was that the staff tried to overcharge me- i had to show them written confirmation of my booking. After that they made me pay an extra 12% in tax, not mentioned in my booking. They would not waiver this and i feel that customers need to know about this ESPECIALLY as i did not receive this charge in other hostels in Ecuador.

My brother and I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed staying at Los Yutzos Hostal. The location was absolutely perfection...sandwiched in between the Tena river overlooking the reserve on the other side and the low key city of Tena. The staff (especially Francisco!!!) were incredible and our only complaint was that we wished we could have stayed longer! If you have the chance...definitely stay here!
