Impossible to find, and when you do find it, nobody is there. Distant location. Shabby and overpriced.

The best place to chill out from a long trip! The best view you can have in Valparaiso. The best host you can have as well! Thanks to Kent & friends for a place just like home ;-)

Absolutely amazing! The best atmosphere on my Round the World trip so far. The rooftop deck made for a feel of "luxury" without the price tag. It was far enough from the nightlife that you could sleep in peace yet close enough that it wasn't a task to get there. Highly recommend!!!

Such a great place to chill out and relax with like-minded travellers. Kent is a great host with plenty of hospitality to go around. Big rooms and the rooftop view from the hammocks or wood fire BBQ is perfect! We would go back tomorrow.

I had the perfectamente stay at this hostel. You'll wander around looking for the best view of the city at restaurantes and bars... Well, here I found it outside my room.

This was such a perfect hostel to stay at in Valparaiso. Kent was so nice and informative and the rooftop terrace was a perfect place to hang out. Loved staying here and I have already recommended it to many other travelers I've met.

The hostel reminded me of a rambling cubby house, with a rooftop deck and hammocks overlooking a stunning view of Valparisio and the port. Great atmosphere, and included wifi, kitchen and laundry use. The owner Ken was very helpful and welcoming. Close to bus lines however reception is in a different place to the actual hostel, we just happened to be walking past with our bags and were lucky enough to be seen and flagged inside, but it could have been confusing - something to keep in mind.

This place really is everything you could hope for and more! The hostel is very rustic/hippy and charming but also super clean and has great showers and spacious rooms, plus the roof terrace with hammocks has the best views. The cerro mariposas is a beautiful hill a bit away from the centre but very safe and picturesque. We agree with all previous reviews that Kent is an absolute legend and will make your stay even more special, best accommodation in the city for sure!

It was a very short stay but we had an amazing time. We would highly recommend staying here.

Amazing host kent, who really cares about people staying in this great hostel he has created with his family. Amazing roof top area means people interact with eachother. Not on the main hill, but actually we liked this and there are ultra cheap taxi options to take u there at all hours. Great place in a cool city.

Nothing new i can add to the other reviews, the place is simply magical. There seems to be a trend of people coming for a night and staying for a week or longer. For a reason. Atmospheric, plenty of social space, great kitchens, bathrooms (always hot water), strong wifi. The location might be a little bit further from the rest but it is so worth it and a great exercise walking up the hill (you can always choose other transport of course). Kent and the guys who were helping there are stars!

We loved our stay here, the rooms were huge and the property was incredibly cool. Staff and owners were super friendly and helpful, there was a fire every night and always people around to socialize with but the rooms were private so you could get some alone time if you want it. No breakfast, but the kitchens were large and we'll stocked with everything you need for cooking. Location is a bit far from anything (restaurants, groceries and sights) up a rather large hill but the view is spectacular

Amazing hostel, best place we have stayed so far. So much character and entertaining sitting around the fire at night speaking to Kent. We will definitely come back!

Stayed at Mariposas over NYE and had a great time! Kent was consummate host right from the moment we showed up (at his house) and were welcomed with coffee and fresh fruit! The facilities are excellent with multiple kitchens, huge common spaces and a stunning roof top area which was the perfect spot to watch the fireworks. Kent made sure everyone had a great start to the evening and provided tons of useful info on exploring Valpo. I highly recommend Mariposas.

Great place, Kent is very helpful with local information. I stayed here for the night, the view from the roof porch is amazing. Has a student house feel to it. Very close to Pablo Neruda's house, about a 30 minute walk to the port downtown. There is bus access; it was perfect for what we were looking for.

Best hostel we have stayed at so far in our three months in South America. The hostel has charm and beautiful rooms with a stunning common area with a view over the bay. The location is fantastic - much better to be here than in the "main tourist area" which is a short bus ride or 20 minute walk away. The owner Kent is really interesting and super friendly and helpful. We ended up extending our stay for over a week longer than originally planned. Highly recommended!
