It really feels like you are home away from home! Kent was very nice and friendly, the atmosphere is great and the views from the deck are incredible! It was easy to find, a little away from downtown but very easy to catch a bus or get a cab in the street in front of the hostel. The place has a great vibe and it was nice to watch the guys work outside listening to Van Morrison. Great way to spend your days in Bohemian Valpo!

Hostal Mariposas is a dream! Stunning views, tons of room, a number of kitchens, washing machines, and everything you could want nearby. Kent is an exremely welcoming and helpful host, and the balcony views are the best you could ask for. Stay here if you get the chance

Kent, the owner and manager of the hostel, was an absolute joy. never short of time for a chat, he's the impecable host. The hostel is on Cerro Mariposas and has a stunning views of Valparaíso from the balcony. bear in mind though, that it's a 20 minute walk from the tourist centre of Cerro Concepción and Allegro, but is only a 10 minute walk from Neruda's house. There are multiple (clean) toilets and bathrooms as well as washing machines for your laundry (free), which is an rarity. recommended!!

They don't make em like Kent anymore. He's a first class host, very much like the location of the place, laid back and cool. If you fancy taking a real break from it all and maybe even get some inspiration then you could do allot worse then stay at this place

This is probably the best hostel I've ever stayed at. Most of the year it's student housing but for 3 months while the students are on break us lucky backpackers get to visit. Ken and Carolina are incredible hosts - both personable and very sweet. The hostel itself is really well set up. Creative energy and each room is different. There are multiple kitchens and many bathrooms so everyone has room. This place is just so homey and I loved it!

Hostel Mariposas has a great environment. It is very clean and safe and the house and staff have and create a good atmosphere. The way the staff deal with their clients is very nice, informal and they are always open for a good conversation. The location is up on the hill, which may be a problem for those who do not want to walk, but 1) this is just like Valparaiso is and 2) you can always catch a cheap bus. I defnetly recomend the hostel. I enjoyed very much staying there.

Excellent hostel, one of the best I've ever stayed at. Nice, "cabin-like" feel. Kent (owner) was very helpful. High quality internet access. A little difficult to find.

Hands down - best hostel I stayed in over a 2 month journey. Amazing house high in the hills overlooking the bay and city below with a wonderful rooftop terrace and BBQ. Had some of my best nights drinking wine with the other travelers! The owners are so great and take great care of everyone. And such great prices for the amount of space! AMAZING~

Quiet hostel that has a very 'at home' feeling. The American owner Kris is very laid-back and friendly. He will exchange travel stories over a cold beer on the rooftop terrace overlooking Valparaiso. The fully equipped kitchen with tons of leftovers is a big thumbs up! Only downside for us was the location. It's not especially far but at night it feels a bit dodgy walking up the small alleys.

I had good time there and I even returned another time and stayed for a whole week. Except for some rooms being a bit dark, it is xcellent. Would stay again, felt a bit like home away from home. Very clean. There is small shop nearby where you can buy the things needed in daily life. Excellent value for the money. Thumbs up for Kent (the owner) :)
