There was almost no room in the dorm that I stayed in b/c there were too many beds in a really small room. The washroom and common areas looked like they havent been cleaned in a week plus. I could pick up a better couch on the side of the road, compared to the one in the common area. I travelled around Mexico for a month and by far this was the worse one I have ever stayed in. To top it off, there was about three really small lockers for the 10+ people they cram in the dorm.

Hostel Marpez is the perfect antidote to Cancun's frightening excess. Great location near a Mexican supermarket, borders on a lively neighborhood but is on a quiet street, and is very clean. Fully functional kitchen makes it easy to avoid high eating-out costs. Bathroom and rooms are clean. Nice decks.
