The hostel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The security is excellent--you have to ring to be let in. I personally didn't care much for the location--the hostel is between La Mariscal and the Centro Histórico. I went to the centro a few times (during the day), but always had dinner/drinks in La Mariscal, so had to get a taxi back at night. Also, there's no "community" at the hostel--I know other people were staying here, but I didn't see/meet them (no common area). But-good value!

Good: the manager was very helpful. Very cheap. Location is in between old and new town. Bad: other staff ignored us and were unfriendly. Internet was poor. Far from Mariscal.

The hostel is well situated between the new and the old town, within walking distance to everything. The breakfast is very good (costs $3) and filling. Eduardo is very nice and helpful. The only down-side is there is no common room or atmosphere to the hostel. We also didn´t always have wifi in our room.

The staff here are very friendly and helpful, in knowing the area and providing guidance for attractions in Quito. I really enjoyed my stay David

Great location .......close to ecovia and trole buses. Twenty minute walk to Grand Plaza. They keep it clean and the front door is kept locked. TV in room with cable, but all Spanish language channels. I paid USD 7.50 per night which is certainly worth it. They offer a good "desayuno" breakfast for USD 3.00. I would stay there again.

we had a great stay and it was all very clean and affordable. Our only comment would be that it was very cold overnight, so a few more blankets would be good.

Hostal Marsella is my favorite place to stay in Quito. Estuardo, the owner, is a great guy who will do whatever he can to help you out. The Hostal is in a very excellent location. It is located between the historic center, as well as the tourist-focused Mariscal. So, it is easy to get a great night's sleep, away from the noise, with parties just a ten minute walk away in one direction, and the historic center just ten minutes away in the other direction. I definitely plan to stay here again.

Very clean, pretty silent in the evening and night. tight security, recommended lots of things to do, and even lent us a guide book for the day. . weren't very organised though : they didn't have our reservation, good thing we had written all the details out ourselves.

Fantastic hostel. The staff are incredibly friendly and the son speaks Spanish, English and French! Location is great; just a two minute walk from the centre but away from all the noise. Rooms are big, clean and great value for money. The free WiFi works throughout building and there is a computer in reception if you need it. Clean, well equipped kitchen also. Overall a great stay!

We stayed at hostel Marsella twice during our trip in Ecuador, once when we arrived in Quito and once before we departed from Quito. The value for money doesn't get much better than this in Quito. The beds are a bit stiff, but all in all you cant complain, when are hostel beds ever comfortable? Good location and friendly staff, very clean rooms and facilities with newly renovated bathrooms. They are currently in the process of renovating the kitchen. Would reccommend, would stay here again.

Nothing Fancy, but safe, clean and comfortable (not the beds necessarily) modern bathrooms (at least the en suites) $18 a night with private bathroom in a clean room, absolutely no room for complaining. In a good location, close to a supermarket, right in between Mariscal Sucre and the Old Town. Helpful staff, although really annoying that every time you want to leave or enter you have to ring a bell and wait to be let out- but it does add to the security aspect a bit. enjoyable overall.

The owner was very nice and helpful, the rest of the staff didn´t seem to care much about the guests. But the room was very nice and clean, the rooftop-terrace was great and the location is awesome. Right in the middle of the two parts of Quito you want to see, the historic center and Mariscal. So you can walk everywhere but still live in a quiet neighborhood where you can sleep.

A basic hotel safe and situated at a walking distance of the three main lines of transportation.

The location of the hostel was decent, but we definitely did not feel welcome when we arrived. First of all, we had to ring multiple times and when someone answered the door he did not say anything. The woman that checked us in was nice enough, but explained nothing when we got to our room there were bars on the only window that opened and the beds were rock hard. To leave the building, you have to ring a bell and wait for one of the unattentive staff members to open the door for you

We had an excellent stay at Marsella in some of the most comfortable beds around! The staff were incredibly helpful and were more than willing to help us with anything we needed. Location was excellent, only 10 minutes into the Centro Historico and right next to the modern part too. Only thing to recommend would be to have keys to get in and out of the hostel so we don't have to bother staff to open the door each time! Thanks guys!
