Hostel Mi Casa was above and beyond what I expected and I expected it to be great from the start based on the reviews. The owner Sean, is an awesome person who felt more like a best friend that I got to chill with on all 3 of my nights at the hostel. His wife Susy was extremely pleasant and friendly as well. The location is great as it's the closest hostel to the Penol rock, next door to a rock climbing instructor that offers the best rates for climbing, and next to two restaurants and store.

A nice place, but VERY far from Guatape. It's a 45 minute walk into the town and 30 minute walk to La Piedra (the big rock). The owners are fantastic and very helpful. The place is clean and a good price. But the map they have on their website is misleading; the hostel is not close to Guatape.

Owner Comment (Show)
First and foremost, please let me apologise for where our Hostel was positioned on the Google map, it was in the slightly wrong place and I had no idea until this review, so many thanks and we have now rectified it ! In terms of our location, we are pretty much right below the main attraction in Guatape, La Piedra (the huge rock) for most customers we have had, it takes them about 15 minutes to walk to it. Also from the hostel most people take about 25 minutes to walk into town, much of which is over a designated path and along the lake so very picturesque ! If you don’t fancy walking into town, collectivo jeeps pass by the hostel every 5/10 mins, run from early in the morning until late in the evening, and cost just $1,500 pesos and takes 3/4 mins. Nice and easy ! Despite the slight confusion over our location you have still given us a pretty good percentage score so I am glad that everything else here was good for you, and again many apologies for our oversight but all is correct now !

This hostel really was like coming to a cozy home... chill common area with chairs, a dining table, and a kitchen, hammock on the balcony, easy conversations while cooking and hanging out, a comfy bedroom with WARM blankets, decent bathroom, and beautiful view. Sean and Susana are doing an excellent job and definitely accomplishing their goal of making people feel at home. Only downside is distance from town, but it's a nice walk, and it's super close to the rock and easy to catch a ride in.
