Amazing place to stay, very social, great staff and the breakfasts are the best in Oaxaca!!!

The hostel was very fine but the people there were kind of boring. If you look for a place to meet people and party, this is definitely not the hostel for you. If you want to spend a quiet time, it is perfect. Plus, the breakfast is really good!

If you are a couple, get the double ensuite with a king bed and private bathroom--it is an amazing value for your money and you get a huge room with another room to put your stuff an a huge balcony overlooking the city.

This is a beautiful hostel, very clean and quiet. However, it isn't very sociable if that's what you are looking for.

A really friendly hostel with one congregation area that everyone hangs out in - good for meeting people. Could be a little cleaner and the laundry/ability to handwash situation needs to be fixed, but otherwise I would recommend it.

I wouldn't bother to find other hostels in Oaxaca. Since Pochon has a great vibe, solo travelers won't be disappointed. I had a great New Year's Eve there among awesome people. Staff is very friendly and there's a yummy breakfast into the bargain.

Very clean, amazing suite for a great price! Also has an incredibly nice staff that kept some stuff we had forgotten, even though they didn't need to do so. Also they gave us great advice on getting to know the city, telling about some not so touristic places.

This was my first hostel experience and me and my friend were greatly satisfied! The two things we liked the most about this hostel was the nice friendly community of residences and the breakfast. The first morning we had crepes and the second omelets. I would recommend staying here. The distance was a little further but that also added to the ability to remove oneself from the nightlife if you so chose.

Great place to stay with a fantastic breakfast. We enjoyed the location with its 15 minute walk to the Zocolo allowing us to see more of the city. The kitchen facilities were good and everything was nice and clean. It was great to have a small local market literally across the road from the hostel.

This hostal located close to a hill with communication masts, useful for a landmark until familiar with the city. There is a lovely walk up there with colourful butterflies and lots of migrant birds (winter time). The walk down town takes about 20 minutes and there are interesting buildings and shops on route. Hostal Pochon was rated as one of the best in Oaxaca City, but it completely lacks a lot of character and fun. The staff are friendly and help you organize your trips around Oaxaca, but if you stay several nights at the hostal they do not offer a good place to relax and be with fellow travellers. Beer could be purchased at the hostel, but they would run out everyday quite quickly. Rooms are right beside the common area so you can't really make any noise.

The hostel has all facilities you can think of, but it lacks some character and the fun factor. I wouldn't stay here again.

The hostal Pochon was good, but we had a bad experience. We got 2 keys when we checked-in and we had to pay 2 deposits. Because we only needed 1 key, we let the other one in our room. When we came back from the town, the second key was missing... and we had to pay the deposit for it!?? So we think it's not a serious hostel or please be carefully with your key. By the way they charge for storing the luggage on the last day...

Lovely little place that feels very homely. Free water and a cup of tea on arrival adds to the warmth. Great book swap and TV with DVDs means you don't mind chilling at the hostel a little. Generally clean but bathroom is a little cramped. Excellent breakfast included which fills you up for most of the day. Only suggestion would be to perhaps offer some evening activities to see more of the town.

Great hostel. Staff were great and helpful. had a nice cummunity vibe. dorms and private rooms are nice. a lovely lady cooks you breakfast in the morning (beans and eggs and fruit and coffee). looked a bit far away from city centre on map but is a short walk. close to laundry and a corner stall.

The staff here are fantastic - very very helpful. The rooms are very clean and have fans. Only complaint is the bathrooms are very small. The commom area is a great place to hang out and meet people. Would definitely stay here again if we came back to the oaxaca.

I totally recommend Hostal Pochon. I was greeted on my arrival by a friendly welcome and a complimentary bottle of beer which I thought was a nice touch. The location is ideal, the auto bus terminus is only 10 mins away everything in the town centre is in walking distance. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly with excursions, advice and even help with planning and booking future destinations. And to top all I met a great group of people and had a great time in Oaxaca. Jason, London
