I might be slightly biased here! Great hostel and very accomodating. I had an accident on the Death Road which left me with 2 fractured arms and in hospital for 5 days. The staff, especially Flora (la cocinera) were amazing and really looked after me as if I was her son. She even went with me to the Airport at 4am, so that she could help me with my backback. Thanks to all at Hostal Republica.I might be slightly biased here! Great hostel and very accomodating. this was our base while in la paz. they organised uyuni and tiwanaku through the associated travel agency. the prices of tours were a little high and information wasnt accurate. it was just enough off the main streets to avoid traffic noises. hot water is not constant. cafe provided better breakfasts than dinners. there is only one computer to use and it is in the cafe which is closed for most of the middle of the day. courtyards were great, there are even gas heaters for night time. nice place.this was our base while in la paz. they organised uyuni and tiwanaku through the associated travel agency. the prices of tours were a little high and information wasnt accurate. it was just enough off the main streets to avoid traffic noises. hot water is not constant. cafe provided better breakfasts than dinners. there is only one computer to use and it is in the cafe which is closed for most of the middle of the day. courtyards were great, there are even gas heaters for night time. nice place....Close

HORRIBLE!We arrived at the hostel and they told us they didn´t have any reservation at our name. We told them that we had recieved an email from THEIR hostel confirming that we did. The boss replied that was impossible, hostel world made a mistake and also ¨welcome to bolivia¨.WHAT?They had overbooked and wanted to send us to another hostel all while having us pay them(their price, although the other hostel was half). When we refused they threatend too keep our bags(they were in the locker room)HORRIBLE!We arrived at the hostel and they told us they didn´t have any reservation at our name.
