Good location, there could be more toilets. I stayed in room number 4, which is an ensuit, but the door of the toilet was broken. It is a pity that Enrique and Cinthya are not working there anymore as they were very helpful and friendly. Cinthya helped me a lot and she always had a smile on her face. Kitchen could be cleaner and bigger.

Location is awesome, smack bang in the middle of own. Facilities are pretty good, staff are helpful though they tried to pressure sell tours little while I was there. Six bed ensuite dorm is worth the extra to not share the two main showers.

Very nice located hostel, staff is helpful, beds are confortable and warm enough at night. The common area outside is pretty nice, but since it's in the middle of the desert, it gets very cold when the sun is out!

This Hostel is in a good location, but the staff are a bit rude at times and unhelpful..the bathrooms are not cleaned often, the showers arent great boiling hot and then cold.

This a great hostel, with a great atmosphere and a brilliant place to meet people. It{s right in the centre of town, making it very handy to visit tour agencies for the salt plains, as well as restaurants and bars, etc. The staff are brilliant as well '- very good at involving everyone. Only downside is that it{s pretty expensive when compared to the rest of Chile, but San Pedro is in general anyway!

This hostel has probably the most obnoxious and useless staff members i've seen during my trip around Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Unless you are willing to book trips and restaurants with them, they simply act like they are doing you a favor by answering your questions. Also you can find cheaper places in San Pedro de Atacama.

Owner Comment (Show)
Im sorry you had that opinion about us. I know I didnt talk to you and that you probably talked to my co-worker, but you were only one night here, Im positive that if you have had stayed longer you wouldn't have this opinion about the hostel. We apologize again for whatever thing happened to you during the night you stayed here. Hostal Rural

The staff at this hostel are great people. They took us out to a couple of bars to watch Chile playing a World Cup Qualifier and got on really well with all guests which helped bring people together. There is table tennis which is good fun and you can arrange any tours there. We did the 3 day Salar de Uyuni trip and had an amazing time. You are a couple of minutes walk away from anything you need (bus terminals, pharmacy, bars, tour operators, restaurants, shops, ATMs).

The hostel was overbooked when I arrived and I had to spend my first night in a hostel down the street which was annoying. They did absolutely nothing to compensate me for the hassle. The hostel is also very expensive for what they provide. You don't get any breakfast, etc. Some of the staff lives on the property where they care for a very small baby. You will be asked to keep your voices down so the baby can sleep. Then the baby will wake you up in the morning. The staff is nice though.

I really have no idea how anyone could complain about the staff here. The guys were friendly, patient and helpful and went out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay and made your tours. I never ever saw them drunk. I doubled my stay since I liked this hostel and San Pedro so much.

Excellent location, friendly staffs, comfortable bed. The 6-bed dorm is too small that we hardly walk because all the bags are in the middle. Toilet tissue is never available .The kitchen has no matches to light up the stove, and no salt too. You think we should buy 1 kg salt?

It rains - if it rains - only 5 days in the desert during the whole year and we were there at this time. It rained a lot and the hostel wasn't prepared for it so everything got wet and there was no electricity. But it wasn't hostal rural's fault, the whole city was like that. Even though, it was a nice experience and we met great people there. The staff are the best! The location is also great, everything is near. Should only have cleaner bathrooms. I totally recommend this place.

We loved our stay at Hostal Rural despite the s*!# weather! We had three days of torrential rain, but the staff made our stay one to remember. They were always around to offer advice and talk about things to do in San Pedro, and they remembered our names, which was great. The communal areas are nice and the hostel has a really great, friendly atmosphere. Good place to meet people. Beds are comfy and bathrooms are fine. Lockers are not very big but OK.

staff was drunk all the time, and didnt want to work and also not to give information! they didnt care about their guest, horrible! the hostel itself was pretty good, even if the location is a bit dangerous at nicht, to get there you have to walk along a street where there is no light at all! there is also no breakfast included and go shopping si very expensive there!

Location is great. However, showers were very unclean (they were smelly and clogged with hair); sockets in the bedroom didn't work; staff was frequently drunk; kitchen is closed from 11pm to 6am which wouldn't be a problem if they actually respected the timetable. We were going on a tour and left our water in the fridge the night before. We woke up at 6 and it was closed. The night guard wasn't helpful AT ALL and just said: "You'll have to wait" . our room flooded for pipe issues. No English.

It was a nice place in general with hammock, ping ping table, decent enough showers etc but the staff just really weren't very friendly and made us feel like we were in trouble all the time. They also turned all the lights off at midnight without saying anything even though nearly everyone was still awake. I found that quite off putting

Great place to hang out and meet people. Located right off the main street which is convienant for comparing tour prices and going to bars and restaurants. Fun and relaxing place, would definitely recommend!
