This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in! Pablo and Clarence go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time - the nightly bonfires make for a very sociable hostel; perfect for solo travellers. The hostel is right in the middle of town, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Tours can be booked via the hostel and are the same price as going direct. It was hard to leave this place and I would happily recommend Hostel Rural to others.
Great location, just 10 mins from the bus station and about 10 seconds to everything else. Atmosphere is the biggest draw, this hostel is made for socialising with loads of communal space and a great bonfire every night. Staff are excellent too...Clarence is THE MAN!! Thanks for a great stay.

Easily one of my best stays in South America. The hostel is located right off the main street in San Pedro, 10 min from the bus station. The hostel is built around a courtyard, which creates a great atmosphere as everyone gathers there at night for a bonfire. WiFi is great and the beds are comfy. Most of all what made my stay so awesome was the staff. Clarence and Pablo are both fantastic, and really go out there way to show you a great time. Appreciate how hard they work for your benefit!!
Great atmopshere in a great location!! The staff were very friendly, helped with tours, and really showed us a good time! You can enjoy the outside seating, ping pong, or hammocks! Great place to stay :)
Great hostel. Fun and helpful staff. Super hot showers. Bonfires at night were a huge bonus. Bring lots of warm clothes if you're coming in winter since there's no heat.
Awesome staff and hostel, with a bonfire every night and a great set of common areas! When I was there, the hot water was sketchy but did work when I played with it and asked the staff for help.
Fantastic hostel! I've stayed in a lot of hostels in the world, and this is one of my favorites. The location, cleanliness, beds, internet, etc are all great... Mostly I judge hostels by the atmosphere though, which hostel rural excels at largely thanks to the staff. A special shout out to Clarence at the front desk, who really goes out of his way to help make sure each guest enjoys their stay and gets the most out of this fantastically beautiful part of the world. Highly recommended!
Clarence is a hero had great banter with him, fantastic atmosphere around the fire. Loved the hammocks. It's a shame they don't offer breakfast as it would really set you up for the day. Only complaint was the shower head needed replacing.
Besides the shower that could use a fix, everything was awesome! I really loved the hostel and the bondfire at night!
Great atmosphere, very sociable, a fire is lit in middle of patio every night when cold and everyone's around it chatting. Imposed 12am quiet time. Staff very helpful. Only slight downside is kitchen quite small, but means everyone interacts! Showers were good, except the one with no tap heads on it... hopefully they'll get this fixed!
Must stay at this hostel if going to San Pedro de Atacama. The staff are seriously incredible and will make your stay awesome....any little thing you might need help with they always are happy to help. Clarence was awesome help. Plus the hostel is in a great location..unlike many of the other hostels. And it has everything you need...hot shower, kitchen etc. Plus the table tennis table is good fun and many nights they set up a bonfire which is great. Amazing hostel 11/10 ..+1 for the staff.
Great hostel with really great staff. Clarence was super friendly, easy going and did anything he could to help make my stay the best it could be. He was the most helpful staff member I have come across in my many stays at hostels. The place had a great atmosphere and I would recommend this hostel.
A good hostel with a great atmosphere. Showers were cold at some point and there weren't many to go around but we managed. Great cooking facilities and it was a great location.
Great staff and atmosphere to have fun. Shower could get very cold or very hot, difficult to regulate them.
One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Stayed here for 9 nights and with only 5 4-6 bed dorms it had an amazing atmosphere with a fire most nights. Loved the hammocks eslecially. Pablo and Clarence are great staff, particularly Clarence who works incredibly hard to make sure that everyone is happy and has everything they need. Only downside to this hostel is the lack of reliably hot showers but everything else here makes up for that. Would definitely recommend!
This hostel in great local, staff were awesome, Clarence is the main reason we stayed. Its the desert so dust happens, no problem, hammocks and ping pong table were sweet. Only issue was no closed in area, but this isnt usually a problem, but thus May was crazy weather cold, snow, and sandstorms, very unusual, no fault on hostel. Would stay again, but no double beds if you want.
Wonderful showers, beds were alright. Clarence was awesome, took us all out and showed us good parts of the city and where to party.
Great hostal, even though that sometimes the reception is unorganized and hence mistakes happen.
Expensive for what it is but I think everywhere in Atacama is pricey. It's a cool hostel with a laid back vibe in the day with hammocks to chill in
Was travelling alone, and was sort of stuck in san pedro for almost 2 weeks. Was probably the best place to be stuck in, on the planet. Staff were amazing, so helpful, and also very keen to have a good time. Honestly couldnt fault this place. A bloody plus
