Santo Domingo was fine. I was traveling with a group that I met in Mexico City. When we arrived we were told conflicting things about alcohol in the hostel. It is not allowed anywhere, as we later found out. Of course that isn't a deal breaker. However, in the mixed dorm there are only 6 lockers for 18 beds (4 of us shared 1 locker) and anyone can walk in off the street at anytime. The breakfast was basic and the shower awful. They do provide towels and the wifi works. But I wouldn't go back
There were no keys for the dorms so everybody can go in and only small lockers, so for a big backpack no chance to lock it, so very easy to steal things. The atmosphere was ok. Good breakfast
Stayed one night in a private room which was nice although the wifi didn't reach it, the place was virtually empty so no atmosphere to speak of, staff were friendly, breakfast was good.
18 bed was surprisingly spacious, we shared our 18 beds with one other guy so we had lots of space. There are lockers and they provide you with a padlock in your room, bathroom isn't provide exactly, low doors and you can see through. The bathroom had 3 toilets and 3 showers inside, sinks inside the main bedroom. The location was right in the city centre and not far from the main square. The hostel provided map and helpful directions info. From ADO bus station it cost 65 pesos in taxi.
Great place to stay near from zocalo. We stay for 2 nights and everything was ok, and also, the price is excelllent
Excellent located, calm atmosphere, nice to stay a week end and maybe more days. We loved it.
