Staff were really friendly, tour to Cusco Canyon was great, would stay again.

Really friendly, nice and generous staff, helpful in any questions, the hostel is clean and pretty, a quiet and very good place. Thank you!

The only thing is that they have a large sandy courtyard area below the terrace areas and the cats that live there use it as a litter box. They also have chickens. The smell of the two wafts up to the terrace and it is very unpleasant. Other than that it's a great hostel, except they should fix the lock on the bathroom door.

Hello! Thanks for your comment! We DO still have chickens, but their home is all day long closed now and we try to clean up every day to make the place nicer! So, now it doesn't smell bad at all ;) Sorry if it bothers you when you were staying at us. About the bathroom, I think you meant the one near the steps to dormitory. The lock was not and still isn´t brocken, it´s just working different. If you close door inside, no one can enter. After your comment we'll put an memo! Thanks!

Close walking distance to the main square. Rooms large. Friendly helpful staff.

Hello, thank you for your words! It'll help the other to decide to come to our hostel maybe :) I hope you had nice time at our hostel! - Hostal Sol de Oro -

Nice spot in Arequipa for the money. Hot water all the time and great staff. Seemed a bit quite there and maybe has seen better days. We were allowed to use the kitchen although it felt a bit uncomfortable and was not easy to cook in there. Beds were good, I would not recommend the Colca Canyon tours.

Hello! Thanks for your comments and recommending! We hope you enjoyed the time at our hostel! Take care! - Hostal Sol de Oro -

Nice hostel that was pretty quiet when we stayed there. The 6-bed dorm was 6 twin beds rather than three bunk beds which was nice since it meant there was a lot more floor space per person. This dorm also had one locker for each bed, too. Water was hot but like almost every place in SA available only in the shower not the sinks.

Hello! Thank you for your comment! We hope that you had nice time in our hostel and also great trip in South america!

I have been travelling South America for two months, and this was by far the best hostel I have stayed at! The location was perfect, being about 5 minutes walk from the main square, and the rooms were spacious with comfy beds. But what made this hostel stand out was the great customer service. The lady at reception (sorry I didn't catch your name) was AMAZING, with everything from booking tours, to recommending sights within the city, to being generally friendly - could have stayed forever! :)

The hotel was mostly quiet, even though it was fully booked. when we returned from a 3-day hike through Colca Cayon the front desk staff was preoccupied with a screaming child, which grated on everyone's nerves. We signed up for a tour through the hotel to visit sites in the Sacred Valley that ended up being so touristy. We spent so much time stopping at markets to shop that we didn't have time to visit all of the sites on the tour. I would recommend asking more questions before signing up.
