In all respects: an excellent and highly recomendable place to stay!
The hostal is a 5 minute walk to the main street. The owners are friendly and help us a lot. The only problem was the hot water. Sometimes, it didn´t work.
Really clean, friendly and helpful staff, hot water didnt always work, close to the bus station but a little outside of the center (not far though), small kitchen but it was ok, can book good tours there, highly recommend!
The only thing i didnt like is how the staff three times tried to sell me tours. They told me by arrival that they had an agency and what tours they had, and that would have been enough!
What a fu**ing great Hostel! In the middle of the desert you see the owner cleaning 24/7. somebody Should Tell her to stop :-). Nice Rooms, a great hang out Spot for all guests, small but lovely kitchen and perfectly hot showers. We Booked Almost every Trip through the hostel-agent and did not regret any of this trips. A max. 6 min. Walk into the Center. Waaaaay cheaper then any Other of this wanne-be backpacker spotts! Love it and don't burn yourself!
It's not exactly in the central, but since the city is small, it's not far, and it's closer to the bus station. But it's worth it! The hostel is clean, calm and very cosy! Totally recommend.
Hostel offers cheaper tour packages than tour agencies do. Hostel owner was very friendly and helpful.

The staff was the best part. The guy really helped booking the tours and he always got a better price then I was thinking of spending. The location is a bit far from the main street, but its only 10min walking. There is a market right next to it.
Ulysses was very nice with us, helped with tours, told us about local food and main attractions to visit. Although the location is not very good the place is quiet, clean and friendly.

We didn't actually stay here. When we arrived they were full but they had arranged another hostel nearby for us. We had booked a dorm but got a private twin room and paid the same price. It was very difficult to find though! We spent over an hour walking around with our bags which is a lot considering how small the town is. No one seemed to know where it was and kept sending us in different directions. We had the same situation with the bus station too - San Pedro seems to lack street signs!
A little away from the main street but only a few minutes walk. Stayed in a comfy private room, most staff did not speak much English
Great hostel. Clean, with 3 bathrooms (uncommon in SP)! 2 min. walk from terminal, 15 min. from downtown. Clotheslines, lots of seating, cheap drinking water refill, SOLID door locks. Bathrooms are spacious w/ racks/shelves. Owner lives here and is wonderful (offered me pizza)! Compared to other hostels in SP with broken furniture, thin walls, dirt floors, leaking roofs, this place is luxurious. Only problem is a small kitchen, and (like all hostels in SP) slow wifi and metered hot showers
Great courtyard and they do laundry fast. They can set you up with any of the tours in town with a phone call…you can even pick the company.
The hostel is very simple, but it's very clean and the owners are super nice. The internet does't work all that well, but it's ok. The only problem we had was with the guy that closes all the tours around Atacama. He works for other hostels as well and two tours worked out fine, however, the last tour the booked (and paid) did not happen and we don't know why. It was our last day in Atacama and we had to ask for our money back to the owner of the hostel and Luis (the tour guy) was not there.
Hostal Tuyasto is a great, sweet hostal with a family atmosphere! We spent Christmas in this hostal and the owners were so great and friendly. We had a christmas dinner together and so it wasnt that strange to be far away from home. The location is great and you are really fast in the center. Muchas gracias por todo!

Hostel was fine, though it was odd to see so many leaking taps in the middle of the desert. Tours booked through the hostel were a mixed bag though.
The separate beds were a very nice touch, and it's very close to the bus terminal, but a bit hard to find. I had a nasty accident during my stay in San Pedro, and the owner of the hostel drove me to a clinic in the city of Calama. If he wouldn't have charged me USD 80 to do that, it wuould have been the most humane thing I'd lived in a hostel.
Its a really nice hostel, beds are comfy, the showers are hot and the kitchen is well equipped but the wifi is pretty average. Its a little bit of a walk to town, but there's a shop and a cheap restaurant close by and its very close to the bus station. The cleaner is a bit over enthusiastic and we felt very much in her in our room way, even before check out at 11.30am. They can sell you tours here but you'll get a cheaper rate in town. Overall its a great hostel and i would stay again.
Back home in a miserable England we look back with fondness on our stay at Tuyasto. We thoroughly enjoyed this hostel. We thought Pierroluigi was perfect as the "face" of the hostel- ever polite and of discerning competence whatever the situation. We must also mention the young lady who seemed to work hard all day on the cleaning, washing up and general maintenence of the hostel. Perhaps we were lucky but our trips were full of nice people from the hostel. Matt &Eileen Erskine luigi
