Very big hostel right in the historic centre of Cuenca, still has a great atmosphere though. The dormitories are huge and the beds very good, there is a nice bar/Lounge/restaurant downstairs and the common areas inside and outside are really comfortable.

Make sure your taxi driver knows where he is going first of all so you don't have to walk 3 blocks. But we were greeted at 6am by a man who let us sleep in the communal area until breakfat. Best bread yet! Home made hearty bread. 10 bed dorm room was cool, no bunk beds but very light as no curtains. Only stayed one night but was a decent hostel for the price.

WiFi was very weak signal and slow. otherwise great hostel

Cool bar downstairs with nice drinks specials. Food is overpriced by Ecuador standards but we arrived late and didn't feel like venturing out and it was great. 10 bed dorm very big and spacious. Nice and clean. Breakfast just 2 pieces of bread and jam with a glass of juice and coffee. Main negative was the church bells going off every 15 minutes in the morning. Overall, very happy and would stay here again.

I had a double ensuite room that was quite large, sufficient in every way and clean. Great staff, friendly, helpful and kind . The location is really great, and this is a spectacular city to wander around in. Also a van, that takes you to a fantastic hostel in Vilcabamba, should you desire to proceed to there, leaves just around the corner. There is a free breakfast, but I'd recommend buying a few add-ons that make it outstanding . Good WiFi, good bed, and always hot water.

Nice hostel, perfectly located!

Our stay here was great. Hostel owners were helpful in recommending things to do. Fair warning - in general if you arrive in Cuenca on a Sunday most of the town is shutdown.

Great place! it's HUGE! but doesn't take away from the hostel or atmosphere. The rooms are wonderully spacious and really pretty- the ceilings and minimal but pretty decor are stunning. The free breakfast is delicious home made bread with juice and coffee or tea but you can also order extras for REALLY cheap. Really great security. Staff are nice and helpful. The evening guy is pretty quiet but the day staff are good. PERFECT location!!! so so so close to everything in an awesome area!

great spot, cool hostel interior. good breakfasts. some helpful, some lukewarm hosts. plenty of noise if your room is by the courtyard at night. listened to s girl get a tattoo right outside our window until after 1am one night. otherwise, it was nice.

Great hostel! cheap, clean, good atmosphere, met a lot of nice people, great breakfast (especially the bread). Luis from the reception is also fun and helpful, took us out to a cheap vegetarian restaurant :)

Excellent, except that the building door is locked all of Sunday and late nights and it's difficult to find a way in! Someone was banging on it all night one evening which woke us up.

While i was hanging out in the common area one of the staff asked what kind of credit card that i had, and if he could borrow it to make an online purchase for the hostel since his wasn't working and pay me cash. I was more than happy to help him out. I watched him make the purchase and he gave me the right amount, no problem. Then, a few weeks later when the charges posted, i discovered he must have kept the info and used it again, since in addition to the right one, there were three more!!!

excellent place!!

Okay let me start by saying overall this is a pretty good hostel, good bathrooms with hot showers and nice room. Free breakfast is only toast and coffee or tea but they have good additional things to buy for cheap. But you can woken up erything in this hostel. Saturday night around 1 am they decided to close the garage door and lock the hostel??? A person was ringing the door bell and literally POUNDING on the door for 30 MINUTES without any of the staff answering the door. Reception is 24hrs??

I really loved my stay at the Yakumama Hostel. The stuff was very hepful and the rooms are big and clean. There was even a basic breakfast included with homemade bread. It's a good place to meet people, there is a lounge, TV room and garden with a nice fountain. The location is right in the city centre. I would definitely stay at Yakumama again :-).

This could be a nice hostel, but unfortunately the atmosphere is absolutely rubbish. It is also really annoying that they completely close the entrance on a Sunday and you have to buzz in and out, waiting for ages for a man to come downstairs and open the door for you.

Guy at front desk that works everyday is very rude and does not listen to cleaning requests. The hostel is the dirtiest I've been in so far after 14 months of travelling so that should be a statement of it's own. The breakfast is poor, quality of bread is the poorest. Staff closes the bar early, which takes away from the atmosphere of the hostel. Would not recommend. I'm not sure what the cleaning staff does but dirty toilet paper on the floor of both the men and womens bathrooms were leftdaily.

- in the night very noisy - could be cleaner - nobody at the reception on Sunday + friendly stuff + perfect location + good collection of movies

Staff rude, they let some traveller with a pregnant filthy dog in the hostel that stayed in your room scratching full of fleas jumping on beds and sleeping on people's backpacks. What a joke. Everyone told the person to get rid of the dog but at night would cry and bark waking everyone up. I give bad rating for this because completey unacceptable and poor management.

Lovely rooms clean and spacious, staff were accommadating. At times it felt like a huge empty mansion. And Sunday the bar is closed and so is the front door. Found myself walking down the big empty hallways searching for other backpackers most of the time. didnt even realise there was a movie room on the second floor. But give it a go, nice location and good wifi for the size of the place.
