Also we're charged the hostel world booking fee in addition to the nightly costs. The lock on our door was very suspect too, definately in need of replacing.

The staff were friendly and the location was great for access to restaurants and shops. The shower pressure in our room was poor, but in all other respects the stay was good. When I checked out, I was surprised that the 10% paid to Hostelworld was not deducted. When I queried this I got two different stories: one was that it was a booking fee, the other was that there was extra tax to pay. I paid the sum, but this was confusing and has not happened for other bookings with Hostelworld.

Had a really nice big private room and enjoyed my stay here. Nice chilled out hostel, in Mariscal (which is fine if you want to be the very touristy area). Only issue was on checkout when the guy working didn't understand that the hostelworld fee was covered by the hostel, not the customer! I had to get my laptop out and show him the reservation email to prove it. However I don't think this was a rip-off, he just genuinely didn't understand.

After reading about this hostel, I was very much looking forward to staying there. The woman at the reception was not the least bit friendly and acted as if it was my mistake for not knowing they didn't accept credit cards when it is advertised on their HostelWorld description. When we did get cash and went to the room, there was no hot water (as advertised) and the bathroom doorframe was a safety hazard. The metal frame resulted in many painful headbumps, one leaving a large bump my head.
