We enjoyed our stay and will certainly consider Piamonte the next time we are back in Quito. The location is convenient as it is a mere block or so away from Plaza Foch. In spite of the proximity, Piamonte itself is nice and quiet. The rooms could definitely use an improvement in light fixtures, as they are very dim causing the rooms to appear a bit drab. However, everything is actually kept quite clean, and the pillows are the best. Also, every staff member we met was helpful and friendly!

No one was at the desk after about 8 pm. All travel information warns tourists about cab ripoffs but if the desk gets you a cab to the airport it is right off $5 more than if you get a metered cab to the airport ($30 vs $25). It is a 10 min cab to downtown, or a local bus nearby that takes about 15 mins or more. No communal vibes.

I'd been at Cotopaxi all day and was soaked through and cold and there was no hot water for a shower. Wifi unreliable. An older crowd, didn't really have a backpacker vibe. Staff however were very friendly and helpful. The hostel was just not quite right for me.
