The staff were extremely helpful and the hosts go out of there way to make you feel at home. The rooms, bathroom, and kitchen were always very clean. The private room is very small/cramped which wasn't a huge problem for me since they have nice common areas. It's also one of the few places in which you can even get a private room without paying for 2 guests. Breakfast was very basic - just dinner rolls and cereal with some jams.

I had a great time at this hostel, and it was in fact one of the better parts of my vacation in Bariloche. Everything is quite expensive there, so it was great to have recommendations on places to go and things to do- Pablo, the owner, was more than helpful with that. The hostel was clean and a few blocks from the main street and the bus stops.

We didn't have hot water for a day in our private bathroom. Not that problematic as there were other bathrooms but still annoying.

Owner Comment (Show)
We are very sorry about that inconvenience... as soon as you told us about the shower we fixed it, and next day we solved the rest. We know also that everything should be working but sometimes things get broke. Sorry again, we hope to don´t let this happen again. You are welcome back at any time to our house. Happy Travelling!

Hostel Achalay was so great I ended up staying 2 more nights than I had originally planned to stay. The beds were the most comfortable of the four hostels I stayed in on this trip. They even had down duvets! There was also homemade jam at breakfast. However, it was the staff that made my stay special. Nati and Amit were such gracious hosts providing great restaurant and tour recommendations and creating an all around great vibe in the hostel. I would definitely stay there again.

Every hostel owner in Argentina should visit this hostel to see how to do it right! Comfortable beds, down duvets, extended breakfast time, attentive/helpful staff and a warm and friendly atmosphere are just some of the pluses of Hostel Achalay. Pablo's cooking is the icing on the cake. Not to be missed!! Look no further for a hostel in Bariloche.

Home away from home. Best hostel I´ve stayed in to date, and unlikely to be beaten. Friendly family atmosphere, very easy to meet fellow travellers. I can´t recommend this place enough.

Hostel Achalay was wonderful! The stafff was unbelievably friendly and were helpful in organizing day excursions and future travels in the area. They were very welcoming. The beds were very comfortable (duvets!), and even though we stayed in a bunk bed, they were a decent size. The breakfast of homemade jam with bread and fruit as well as your choice of tea/coffee every day (not just in the morning!) was perfect. I wish i hadnt booked a ticket out of bariloche - I wanted to stay longer!

This is an excellent hostel, so good you don't want to leave. Pablo and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They know what the word service means and embody it. they give you a good orientation when you arrive. We were there four nights and wished we could stay longer. The other exceptional factor when we were there were the other guests. There were travelers of all ages and the dinner table conversation was wide ranging, not just where did you stay and how much did the bus cost.

aWe loved this place. A hostel with a very warm atmosphere. The night we arrived, Amit took out bags to our room , got us a cerveza and began to show us on a map where things were. The owner, Pablo was putting the finishing touches on roast lamb and couscous plus red wine for hostellers at a very reasonable price of $70 . In the morning hostel staff served coffee. We would stay here anytime.

positive: Very helpful staff. They let us drop off our suitcases earlier and leave them after checkout. Prompt to reply to emails. negative: Breakfast was nothing special - very ordinary bread, not many jams, nothing on tables to welcome you. Some of the toilets smelled horrible in the morning, making me very pleased to leave!

Owner Comment (Show)
We are really sorry about your negative impressions about Achalay Hostel. As you know we are working to make Achalay better day by day. About your complaints: *Breakfast: before your coment we were so proud of our breakfast :-( The "Super Argentinean" Dulce de Leche, butter, fresh bread, peach Jam, homemade jam (rosehip or raspberries), fruits, and cereals availables at any time and as much as you want... we will try to make even better!!! * Bathroom: we do our best to keep the hostel clean, but it is difficult when other guests do not do their part. It is our number one priority to make every guests stay as positive as possible. Anyway, your comments (especially about the bathrooms) help us out a lot to see what we need to make better... thanks for your honesty and we hope to see around here again. Best regards, Pablo
