Roughly speaking the hostel might be one of the best that I could get at this price. The location is quite good, very close to the terminal station. The staff are friendly and they speak good English. The room is spacious. The bed is not 100% clean but acceptable. The shared shower rooms are very nice. Internet usage is convenient. By rules one could only get 1hr access each day, but when I asked the staff for more, they were more than glad to help.

it´s well located, but have people (above 40 years) that are not students or travelers that stay there.

Do not go here and expect a youth hostel. Many older adults all around. Do not come here for the pizza or the breakfast as both were subpar. Other than that, it is a decent place that is secure with good beds and staff. Just fine for seeing the sights in Rome.

This was the best looking hostel I have stayed in. However, it was the cleanest. I stored by bags under the bed and brought them back out covered in dust. The bathrooms could have been cleaner as well, and the showers smelled of mold.

Free pizza three nights a week! Close to Termini station, which is where all tour buses stop. Rooms were spacious with a table and chairs. The lockers require a thicker kind of padlock, the cable kind won't do, so you may need to buy one. Internet is not very good : ( but you should be seeing the sites rather than updating Facebook haha!

The security in the temporary luggage storage room is minimal, if not nonexistant. There are, however, lockers in the rooms. The bathroom looked clean, but had an overwhelming odor of urine. On more than one of the nights, the night time desk staff were so loud with their talking and music that a few people from my group could not sleep. The wlan did not work. The breakfast was...strange... My sheets, although I'm sure they were washed, smelled terrible. The room outlets were broken.

We were looking for an affordable hostel within walking distance of a lot of Rome, and this hostel was just that...about at 10 minute walk to the Colosseum and Forum. It is right by the Termini, which we thought would be convenient, but turned out to be a rather run down area. i would not stay here alone as a woman and I did not feel too safe walking in this area at night. Otherwise it was a fine hostel- clean bathrooms and beds, free breakfast, and nice staff.

They really care about the traveller at this hostel. My room was a 6 bed mixed dorm, which they didn't overpack with beds, and even gave us a table and chairs so we could all sit around and chat and play cards. The common areas make it easy to meet other travellers. The staff were wonderful and so helpful. Thanks guys! My only gripe is the key cards didn't work so well and we all had to keep going back to have them reprogrammed. The bathroom got a bit gross after midmorning.

In the WC/shower, a grid stinks. The lunch would be better with some fruits or yogourth.

The location is good and matching a neighborhood near a train station. Shady but without inconveniences. Could be noisy to sleep with the windows opened. Breakfast doesn't match the web description: no ham, cheese or fruit. Internet is slow, but good enough to check mail, with patience. Common bathroom always smell and is poorly lit. Big common area. Not memorable but not a bad place to stay for a few nights.

Reason: location, stones throw from termini, fairprice, fitting the basic necessities. The rooms are veryyyyy spacious. bathrooms ok. Safety good.Breakfast..one of the best! The reception is the busiest i have ever seen....thers forever a Q. Very friendly staff. Good offers for site seeing, walks and tours.

The hostel is next to the central railway station. The area is not specially good, but walking distance from most things worth visiting. They give you and hour of Internet with each booking (not each day), but the connection is just poor. And the computers use Internet Explorer 6, you can't access propely plenty of websites.

Spacious dorm room. Good price. Great location. Really nice friendly helpful staff. Free pizza nights though I never made it. Elevator available. Not unlimited internet but then u dont want to be inside the hostel when in Rome.

After searching for days in hostelworld for a hostel in Rome (reading reviews) I am glad I finaly chose Alessandro Downtown. I was in a mixed 6-bed dorm in the 5th floor. Very large rooms & very good security with key cards and security cameras. And as I had already read from here you have to bring your own keylock for the lockers! small to medium size keylocks fits. The common bathrooms were VERY clean but there is no place to hang your clothes! Nice free breakfast and cool free pizza nights!

Staff were really helpful! Rooms were quite spacious too. Lights kept turning off while showering..annoying!. Internet is not good either. Sister hostel Alessandro Palace might be more fun. This one did not have a bar, and was a bit boring at night time. I hate to discriminate, but there were quite a lot of older people (over 40, or even over 60!!!) which made it a bit uncomfortable in mixed rooms and also I don't really think it helped with the general atmosphere! No kitchen, only fridge.
