You definitely get what you pay for. I will say the location is great and it was extremely clean. I saw someone cleaning the showers and toilets every day we were there. However, the showers have push knobs that only give you water for about 15sec at a time, and it's COLD. Hot water would have been nice considering it was freezing in Paris. It's a place to stay, and if you can deal with cold showers and paper-thin walls, go for it. Staff will also enter your room if you aren't out by 11.

Everything about this place was a poor. I wish I could rate it lower. Awful travel atmosphere, bad location, rude staff, completely unclean, lack of facilities, and VERY low security for both you and your belongings. Free breakfast is a sham. This is the worst part though....one key per room. If you are staying in a room of 6 people, and you go to bed first, every other person has to bang on the door to come inside. Got no rest. If you lose the key, they charge you all like 20 Euro. KEEP AWAY!!!

This place is excellent value for its location near the Gare du Nord. Rooms are clean and perfectly adequate for the price. I booked for a 5-bed dorm, but ended up in a 3-bed dorm, which was even better! I also found the staff went out of their way to help me If you're considering staying here, the main downside for me were the showers (timed on a very short schedule) and the lack of atmosphere (can be difficult to meet other travellers). However, this wouldn't stop me from staying here again!

Blue Planet isn't trying to be a fun youth hostel, it's trying to be an affordable hotel. And at that, it succeeds. The rooms aren't amazing, the common areas aren't super fun, the breakfast isn't special (two or three prepackaged croissants or brioches from a vending machine), but that isn't the point. It offers you a cheap place to stay in Paris, close to the Bastille, and it delivers.

It is really agreeable place to stay in Paris. Basicly it is all you want from a hostel, not luxe of course but enough for everything. Travellers will surely understand me. i really liked the neighbourhood. Price, location and the cleanliness was ok. BUT don't be surprised if some of the stuff is not nice, well, just try to solve your problems with the young one who always wears a hat, you will easily recognize him anyway:) All in all go stay there i do reccommend.

Before I made my stay at Blue Planet I noticed all the hideous reviews. Taking that into account after my stay they are very unfair. Besides the shower being a den of iniquity the rest of the place is quite alright and comfortable. The beds aren't really stained (look more along the lines of typical wash stains) and are pretty comfortable. The staff are genial and while I would not touch the croissants that came out of the machine, the coffee from it was actually quite good.

the staff is really not that friendly, yet okay. fun = very poor, because I cannot accept internet fees of 3 € for half an hour (and if the half an hour- tickets are sold out, u will only be offered one hour-cards for 6 €!!!) and what's more- the "breakfast" is nearly null- croissants and cappuccion from machines!

Pro's: Good service, (in our case) perfect location, flexibel check in times at night, not expensive. Cons: Thin mattrasses, bad breakfast.

Quite cool, 1 star hotel-like place. Hard to meet other travellers, but good location, as cheap as it gets (in Paris) and filling it's purpose well. Easy to get as it's just by the Gare de lyon (huge railway station). Just check from some detailed map location, since the street where it is, is so small it's not even put on a free maps available for tourists at hotels. You can check it from the detailed map inside the Rare de lyon station!

For very good price you get to sleep, take a bath, and have breakfast (croissant and coffee). To me, it's enough, I rather spend money on some other things. Polite staff. I would go there again.

This is the worst hostel I´ve ever been. The place smells badly, the sheets are disgusting, the shower was broken and with cold water, the toilets are dirty. There is just one key for the rooms, so if you are sharing a room it's pointless. The staffs are unwilling to help you, so I don't recommend it at all.
