Hostel California Vaci Street Reviews

Definitely recommended! The staff were very nice and helpful and also they speak pretty good English.It's location and atmosphere were great, so closed to metro station "ferenciek tere ( blue line,M3)" which is one stop away from the central "deak ferec ter" where you can also change the lines. ( to red or to yellow) They also have free safes ,so you can ask for one when you get there.It was very quiet and nice stay for us. Would definitely go back.

Hostel California is located in a prime and safe area & it is a very inexpensive stay. When I reached the room was not ready due to the earlier occupant not checking out. So they did not take deposit for towels and linen & were kind enough to change me to an available private room. Staff was friendly & communicated very clearly. I did not have a laptop with me, they gave me a computer which I could use. If I get to go back to Budapest, i would stay here again. Perfect place for a backpacker.

We had a few issues during our stay, namely loud noise, dirty bedsheets, lack of variety of breakfast and a bed that basically cracked in the middle. However, most of the problems were solved by the helpful staff who moved us to a larger, quieter room and re-assembled another bed (which was even bigger). There was definitely a friendly atmosphere, especially for those traveling with children, namely by providing entertainment options such as videogames or movies. The location is also excellent!

On one of the richest streets in the city but you never feel it! Totally genuine staff, good cooking facilities, good beds and close to metro and nice shops and restaurants and for so cheap!

if u are looking for old style homestay! the kitchen is dirty n full of unwashed plates n smelly!whole house sharing 1 bathroom,n 1 toilet although not much people staying. breakfast was so bad n insufficient for 1st day,but 2nd day was nice as different staff incharge! the female staff really nice n willing to take responsibility!the hostel location really best in vaci street!

Friendly staff, but little atmosphere.

The bathroom didn't have a real shower (only a bathtub) and the sink wasn't working. There was another bathroom with a toilet and a sink that did work. The wifi didn't work on the second day and staff did not (or maybe could not?) fix it.

Best part of this hostel was the tour and pub crawl. They were some of the best I've been on and take you to places (especially the pub crawl) you never would've found otherwise.

This was a great hostel! Right in de centre of Buda, nearby the biggest metro stop. The staff was great, very helpfull, the beds weren't the best ever but good enough for one week. Nothing to complain in this great hostel!

Booked a twin room and got a double which was a huge room, very comfortable, very spacious dorms, not so many bathrooms yet the ones are kept spotless so u dont feel uncomfortable sharing. They have safes for your valuables, the location cant be any better, right in the middle of everything.. the staff, like most "budapestians" was very friendly and glad to help with anything. The only thing is they dont take credit cards so be prepared to spend your cash.

The hostel situated in the center of Budapest. Nice, pleasant atmosphere! Huge rooms! Breakfast is nothing special but still good.
