A couple of deficienies: the hinge on the dormitory door squeaked a little. The beds and or mattress covers also made noise when turning in the bed. Other than that, tremendous. Great location, very clean, pleasant staff give you a map and local information. Hot showers in sufficient number, Nice breakfast for 4,500 pesos. A real pleasure.
I felt safe, comfortable and their coffee shop sells delicious pastries: I recommend the raspberry cheesecake. Popayan is a peaceful and small town, and Caracol Hostel offers activities or a map, so you can visit points of interest. I visited during the rainy season, so I was really happy Caracol hostel has hot water. In popayan, I recommend that you try the italian restaurant.
A lovely haven for the weary. I would recmmend this place to people who are looking for a relaxed environment with excellent deals. As a solo traveller, I was also thankful that there were two rates for private rooms: one for couples and one for singles. Marta was a gracious host; helpful and kind with great sense of humour. You won't regret staying here!
This is a nice hostel located in a clean and safe area. Things I liked about the hostel is that it is clean, nice small kitchen, and a small area to read/use your computer. The showers were clean with hot water. Sadly, the wifi signal is only strong in the common area, not so much in the rooms. This is more of a chill hostel...definitely not a party hostel.
Was a lovely hostel in a great location ... It was quiet but that's what we wanted ... The coffee shop at the front did great coffee and food... Try the brownie with arequipe ... Only criticism was the old wooden bunkets are so noisy... All in all a great stay
Ok place to spend a night in Popayan on the way to Ecuador. Rooms were functional and clean and staff was very friendly. Good location.
Great location, all you need from a hostel. Although no atmosphere as very few other travellers there.
OK Hostel. Would look for something different if I went back to the town. Fridge was pretty disgusting and that just put a bad taste in my mouth. If they got their kitchen and fridge sorted and got their staff all loving what they do, they would have a good hostel. Some staff are lovely and some were a bit cool. As mentioned aboveabove, OK Hostel. You won't be wowed but you won't be too disappointed either.
Clean and quiet haven behind a cool little coffee shop in the northern part of downtown Popayan. Stable and fast internet, spacious kitchen (with a inventive flint for the gas stove, saves you from burning your fingers using lighters), and friendly staff. 10/10 would stay again :)
beautiful hostel in a beautiful town. plenty of room in dorms, beds were comfortable. lovely hot showers in cute bathrooms. breakfast could be had a the lovely café out the front of hostel, with freshly ground coffee. perfect location.
