I\'ve stayed at Casa Del Parque twice in the past two years and had excellent stays both times. There are many good things about the place, and you should consider staying there. The hostel provides basics, like a bed, a hot shower, and access to a kitchen. There are also pleasant sitting areas, with an outdoor eating area for guests. In recent months the owner has opened a small restaurant on site. On the first visit, I even met ANOTHER hostel owner from Panama, who opted to stay there.

We stayed at this hostel 3 separate times while passing through SJ, in private double rooms. The rooms are enormous and the double beds could comfortably fit 3 so I had a great night's sleep - it's next to a nice park and there are good communal areas as well as a well stocked kitchen. The layout is a bit strange and the windows have a few small panes of glass missing but I didn't feel this was a threat to security as there's a heavy gate at the entrance. The rooms are basic but overall good.

Casa del Parque is my favorite place to stay in San Jose! It's like a home away from home. The staff is wonderful, (very helpful and friendly), the place is sparkling clean, and the kitchen is a relief for the wearied backpacker, (it's clean, there are loads of free spices, and it's very well equipt). The atmosphere is very relaxing and homey and the location is perfect, (close to groceries, the central avenue, a beautiful park). Also, the organic vegetarian restaurant out front is delicious!

Casa del Parque is a superior hostel. Lovely atmosphere and people. I have stayed there several times throughout my journey in Costa Rica and I always feel like I am coming home to see old friends when I arrive! Such a beautiful, graceful old house, with great location and kitchen facilities as well. Also the vegetarian cafe located at the front of the hostel serves delicious, affordably priced, fresh meals.

really good place to come and chill. The hostel is in a really nice part of San Jose and very close to supermarkets and pubs if you want to go out for the night. The staff are friendly and very helpfull and are more than willing to arrange transport and tours for you. Had a great time, keep up the great work guys.

This was my second time around visiting and was very glad that the ambiance of the hostel had not changed. The staff is so helpful and friendly, always willing to answer questions as annoying as one can be, they keep calm. The prices are still reasonable despite our present economic situation. A wonderful addition has been the lovely cafe which enhances this lovely hostel! Without hesitation I recommend Hostel Casa del Parque.

Really nice hostel! Quiet but very social. The private rooms are really great, with big beds and big bathrooms! The staff is also extremely helpfull, they will help you with all your questions and email back really quickly! One of the best hostels I have been to!

Staff is to much focussed on selling tours. Hostel is a bit smelly and bathrooms NEED an update.

Having been traveling in Central America for a while now its always nice to know that some things stay the same. Even with the though new administrator, Josephine things are just as I would expect. Clean, friendly and superb value for money.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt right at home. They gave good information on things to do, where it was safe to walk and where we should take a taxi. They gave us a lot of good information on Costa Rica and San Jose in particular. We will definitely stay here again.

Great hostel! I was fine staying in the big loft room (that has about 15 beds - no bunks), just plan your showers accordingly since there is only 1 for all the travelers. Very clean and very social until 11pm (there is a quiet policy then, which was appreciated). Like the rest of the reviews -- the highlight is the rest of the house. I especially loved the foyer and the back garden patio. Very close to downtown, took me about 7 minutes to walk down to all the shops and eating places.

Very nice hostel, not far from the center. This is NOT a party hostel, as you will be reminded of during check-in, but a nice place to rest for a few days, recovering from the jet lag or from too much adventure throughout the rest of the country. I know they are having some problems with a disco which newly opened nearby. On Saturday night the techno music is clearly audible in the rooms..so I hope they will be able to solve the problem in a short time. Until then, earplugs advised on Sat nights

This was my second time at your hostel and I really enjoyed it. The staff is very nice and very willing to help you, that is a good thing! Facilities are quite well, maybe the bathroom in the dorm needs a little bit work. I am definatley comming back here when I leave costa rica the end of July!

This is hands down the nicest hostel experience I've ever had. That's saying alot--I've stayed in probably about 30 hostels all over Europe, Asia, etc. and this one was cozy, clean, safe, and beautiful. The location is excellent being right next to Parque Nacional. As others have said, it is not a party hostel, which is relieving if that's not what your in the mood for. Stay here! I'm very impressed.

Cozy, clean, comfortable. Perfect for appropriately priced rest and relaxation. I couldn\'t ask for more in a hostel. Seriously. Thank you guys for everything. You were my saving grace during a turbulent time in my travels not once but twice. You rock!! Pura vida.

Really liked how the place looks, and the location of it. Since its next to the park you can get away from the crazyness of San Jose.
