The facilities were limited

nice stay, very close to the city center, but quite expensive

It is deffinately very bad option for Amsterdam, especially for what you pay and what you get.... No common area to even breakfast and breakfast is just nothing to eat.... Rooms are extremely small and bathroom is not good condition as well. Wireless doesnt work fine on upper floors.. If you dont have to, dont stay here. Only good point was security locker.

The people is very nice and kind. Sadly it's far from the center but you can catch the tram and it's very fast. On the other hand, it's very small, there is only one common place and no social life in the hostel.

Very very nice staff but no common area to meet people. Rooms are also a bit small.

Great hostel and great recption

Very kind and nice people here, they gave us good advice on Amsterdam, places to see, museums, etc. Sécurity : safe deposit boxes in the room with a code; doors (room and entrance) open with a pass, no problem. The room was warm, with a view on the Shoah Memorial (a sort of Kubrick's tribute... very fun!) The hostel is perfectly clean, really. The room was rather tiny, but it's not a problem. The parking is, in fact, the Zeeburg P+R, but it's really easy to get an access to it.

As I only used the hostel for sleeping I cannot really say much about it's level of fun, but it was clean enough and in a brilliant location. Though, admittedly, the price was very dear for what you got.

The atmosphere isn't very social, so it's not the place if you're looking to meet people. The rooms are decent & the lockers are free. The reception staff are very nice, but there's not much information about activities & they don't sell discounted tickets. The free breakfast is super basic- toast w/ cheese/jam and cereal. It's a family-run type of place, which makes me want to like them, but the hostel is just not very good. It's fine if you're just looking for a place to crash at night.

Basically just a room with some bunks and an ensuite bathroom. Shower is in the same room as the toilet with no divider on the floor so everything gets fairly soaked. Alright if you need a place to drop your stuff and go get stoned but you won't be spending too much time in your room as there are no chairs. Free internet is nice. Near a tram station so that's good, but you'll need to get a tram card elsewhere before boarding.

My stay was pretty good overall. The hostel is a bit of a walk from the centre (though crystal clear via tram no. 9), but its totally worth it because there is absolutely no noise in the night when you are sleeping. I found the rooms a bit expensive, but it's a good hostel nonetheless. The security is pretty good with your key working through 3 levels straight to your bed. No hassles, good experience.

The Hostel is in a good position, well connected with the city center with the tram line n.9. The room is good (very warm during the night). The breakfast is very simple (bread, cheese, marmelade, butter, tea, caffee and orange juise). In every room there are some free lockers for the bags.

I stayed at Hostel Centraal for 4 nights in mid September of 2011 and overall I had a pleasant experience. Ahmad, the manager and other staff were very nice, helpful and a cute kitten roamed the hostel interacting with all the travelers. The key card entrances and security code lockers were great and I had no concerns about my belongings getting lifted... The stairwell carpets do smell a little dingy and the washroom could have been cleaned more often. Within walking distance of many sights

we have enjoyed a lot our staying at hostel central. the place is nice, clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was not 'fast' because there was only one toaster in the eating room. The whole hostel was pretty small but when you're a weekend away, that doesn't matter.
