Our stay in Hostel Chez Jean was... interesting. We arrived to find out their only private room left was in a van with a bed in it. A pretty big surprise, but the night was pleasant anyway. The hostel has a really youthful and artsy feel to it, so is great if you like that kind of thing. Also not very much privacy, since we had to walk through a room with sleeping people in it to get to the bathroom. But overall our stay was pleasant and was a good experience.

No security box. They sid that the breakfast will be ready very earlier, but it was not ready when I was leaving. Cannot have breakfast.

My friend and I had a great time at Chez Jean. Our room was clean, as was the rest of the place (we saw them cleaning everyday). The location is perrrrrfect in the Plateau-Mont Royal neighborhood, not to mention a great value. It might be a little far if you are trying to party hard on St. Catherine St or in the Latin Quarter, but if you want a genuine, cool time in Montreal, this is the place.

Very cozy and intimate atmosphere. The staff couldn't be better. Very welcoming and easy going people.

I had a great time at Chez Jean! Jud (sorry I'm not sure if that's how you spell it) and Jean are great! Always ready to tell a joke but also, always keen to help!
