Private rooms have heating, and it will be needed as they are located around an open courtyard, while night temperatures are very low. Unfortunately, at night the entire place is open, anybody could come from the street to the courtyard (no lock/bell), and both in the evening and morning, no staff was around. It is a potential security issue in the border town.
The hostel is nice, seems to be quite new. Our room was clean and there was a heater in the room. The staff doesn't speak any English. What was really annoying, is that the guy from the hostel told us, that the bus from Villazon to Uyuni would leave at 9 am (Bolivian local time). But then the bus left at 8 am and we had to wait for 7 hours in the ugly town of Villazon until the next bus left. We recommend to travel directly from Salta to Uyuni, there are good connections at the border.
