Not a bad place. Lots of street noise if you are a light sleeper.

Sorry but this hostel was really really bad.the worst one i stayed in ong time. just a couple of really bad things: you need at least 3minuts to open the door the lock is broken... only one shower has hot water...the staff lives in your dorm and think they are the only ones living there(listening loud music, SMOKING A JOINT IN THE DORM:-/:-!), the bathrooms are not really clean dont go to this hostel!!

It was a little bit cold in the room when I slept there. The breakfast start only at 9am. The staff was great. 7mins by walk for the metro station Bella Artes. The area is good, a lot of bar. You can rent free a bike.

I stayed here for my last 6 days before leaving South America and it was the best hostel I stayed in on my entire 4 month trip through 6 countries. Hot showers, clean, comfy beds, nice kitchen, and friendly staff (who spoke good English). EXCELLENT BBQ for my last night on the continent. Fantastic place

I had a great experience at Hostel el Castillo and met some amazing people. I do think someone should be working at night so that the whole hostel does not have to wake up to let people in arriving late... I found this very unnecessary. There was actually a time both nights that I found myself as the only person around. In ways this is great to have a community thing going on, but I do worry in the long run that it will have a negative effect on security as well as people's ability to sleep.

This hostel was amazing! It is well located, the rooms are big and comfortable and they have free bikes. The staff ist great, always friendly and helpful and with an excellent taste in music! Thank u again for organizing my lollapalooza ticket, the festival and my stay in santiago were unforgettable!

The sitting area and kitchen in this hostel were both really nice. The staff weren't all that friendly, we had to ring the bell to get their attention and even then they only arrived 50% of the time. The dorms were very noisy and the beds were extremely high. the location was decent but during our stay a guy was attacked 2 blocks away (nothing happened to us though- just be careful)at half 8 in the morning. There is a great Chifa restaurant across the road though!

Hostel is very well located. Rooms are nice, backyard is lovely, kitchen is very well equipped. What is missing is ambiance and more personal attention. Common area looks like a hotel lobby. I think with some music and cosy atmosphere it will be an excellent hostel. Oh! also the upper bunk beds are too high!

The hostel lacked character and although the majority of the staff were helpful, some were not. In fact our friend turned up to get a room and a member of staff turned him away saying they were full. However he managed to log on to the wifi there and then and book a room. Not a great start to a stay at a hostel. On the plus side the breakfast, free bikes and location are great.

We really enjoyed our stay at El Castillo. It has a superb yard in the back, with a great bbq area( they have an awesome all you can eat bbq every week, wich is cheap but amazing! ) The staff (especially Diego) are very helpful, speak fluent english, and are always ready to make your stay a great experience. We stayed here our first time in santiago, and decided to stay here on our return as well. Loved it!

Amazingly well located inthe heart of Bella vista, just where you need to be, an easy walk to bars, clubs and restaurants. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms are functional and clean, you can't ask for much more from a hostel!
