Superb place with an awesome view. Friendly staff. I touroughly enjoyed my stay here.

We had a great time staying in this hostel. The views are amazing and the staff, especially the owner, Greg, was awesome. We enjoyed meeting new people in a friendly, clean and quaint environment. We would absolutely recommend Hostel El Encuentro!

This hostel and its location is just beautiful. Its a great place to escape to from the city of Medellin for a few days. You have a wonderful view to the Large Rock (cant remember its name) and of the lake, its just stunning. You can also rent bicycles to the rock, but make sure you put sunscreen on as its a tough cycle and by the time we got there we were burned. Its only a 5 minute walk to the town also, so remember to buy your breakfast, as they only have coffee on offer in the hostel.

Be carefull if you book! Check there website first, because there are two types of rooms. Not all rooms have lakeviews and a window like promised in the description. We didn't knew this, so they dumped us in a room that was so humid that our bags where soaked wet the next day, I had to burn insence to cover up the smell and we both woke up with a couch. While all the other rooms with view and window where available, they didn't want to give us one, because they are actually more expensive.

Great hostel. Maybe even the best one of the trip. Hot water and coffee all day. Showers were hot and our room had an amazing view. The terraces have amazing hammocks as well. Most of the staff were very helpful and had great tips - they made you feel at home. The one negative would be the female working in the reception who seemed to go out of her way to be unhelpful. Not a big deal, but it did throw a bit of a wet blanket over the mood

Excellent hostel right on the lake, just out of town but close enough for an easy walk in. Super friendly and helpful staff, very clean facilities, lots of activities available to book right at the hostel. Big awesome deck with amazing views of the lake and the big rock at sunset. Make sure to book ahead on holiday weekends, I wanted to stay longer but they were full!
