When we arrived João welcomed us with a glass of Port each and was so helpful in recommending us the best restaurant in town and great port companies to visit. He's so friendly and runs a very clean and comfortable hostel with an amazing rooftop vista of the city! When our taxi that was booked for 5.00AM didn't turn up, we had to ring João to order us a new one and he was so helpful even after being woken up that early! It's in a great location too, 5 minute walk from the Riberinha. Recommended!

The staff were very welcoming, generous and warmheartet. They offered free shot of Porto Liquor by the time I arrived to the Hostel. They also offered free dinner which was so kind. The hostel is extremely clean and the beds are real comfortable. The area is a nice neighborhood which makes the Hostel very secure. The atmosphere of the Hostel is so nice. They built the place meticulously, and tjhe Hostel is pretty modest and beautiful.

We had a wonderful stay at the hostel, it's very close to the bridge and you are in the center of Porto in 15 minutes. Joao gave us lots of very helpful tips on where to go, e.g. to the free portwine tour, which we really enjoyed. The room was perfect, everything was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast included everything one could ask for and it was always very relaxed. When we visit Porto again, we'll defdefinitely stay at Gaiaporto again.

I really enjoyed my stay. My room was spacious, well equipped and tastefully decorated. The whole guest house is very comfortable and clean. The host Joao goes out of his way to ensure you are comfortable and enjoying Porto. The breakfast is delicious. The hostel isn't right in the city centre but don't let that put you off. It's near all of the wine cellars and is a 10 minute walk to the Ribeira district across the bridge.

Everything was great! We had a wonderful stay in Porto and we are certain that the hostel positively contributed to the stay. The staff is really friendly, always willing to help. They helped us to plan our trip and they organise us a full day of activities. It is the most beautiful hostel I've seen. And besides, the breakfast was too good! We even had the chance to taste a typical Portuguese dinner! I recommend this hostel to everyone without any hesitation !!

The hostel and its owners are amazing! They make you feel very welcome, it's like living at a friend's house. To sum up: It's nearly perfect and absolutely worth a visit!!

Extremely clean place, with very comfortable beds. Intended to be a small and cozy place (only 16). His owner is very helpful. Not located in the middle of Porto but within walking distance and easily reachable with public transportation. I definitely recommend it!!

We had a wonderful stay at this hostel. The home cooked food was amazing and the hospitality second to none. We will stay there next time in Porto.

We cannot fault this hostel. We stayed for 3 nights in October 2015 and absolutely loved it! Joao and his family are the nicest people and the food they cooked was amazing!! The rooms were extremely clean, the facilities were fantasic with more than enough for all the guests and the hosts were happy to answer any question we had about anything related to our trip. Easily the best hostel we´ve ever stayed in, better than a lot of hotels. Cannot recommend this hostel enough!

It was my first trip to Porto and I'm glad that I chose exactly this hostel. The host Joao made me feel at home. Hostel is very clean, best location, wonderful view from terrace, breakfast is delicious! Everything that one can dream of while traveling to a new country!

Quite simply the most beautiful hostel we've stayed in to date. A wonderful family owned and operated hostel in a perfect location. Nicer than most hotels we've been in, and breakfast in the morning which included home made cake, which was amazing. With 198 countries in the world, I can't promise we'll get back to Portugal, but if we ever do, this is where we will stay. Don't miss it.

Best hostel I've stayed in in 3 months of travel. Super comfortable beds with individual lights and plugs. Great shower and clean bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Staff was friendly and knowledgable about stuff to do, include a free wine tour and tasting. Thanks for an excellent last two nights in Europe!!

The hostel is great, good staff, breakfast and rooms. The only thing wasn't good was a little bit smelly.

We had an incredible stay here! The owners take a lot of pride in providing an experience where travelers can feel at home. The room was impeccably clean and we were greeted with 2 glasses of local Port wine. Honestly felt more like a hotel than a hostel experience but for the same price. There is an amazing roof terrace with views of Porto and we loved being walking distance from the downtown but not in the center of it all.

Great location for visiting Porto and Guaia, which is also interesting, reception speaks English. The dorm room is very small and can be hot with 6 people in it. Also, 8 people sharing one very small bathroom even with 2 sinks and showers is too many. The breakfast is adequate but staff need to be more flexible for people who need to eat earlier or just want a roll without snapping at them. 'Dad" is a sweetheart! Reception professional and knowledgeable, but could be more flexible.

Thank you Melissa for your review. About the bathrooms you are not precise on what you are saying because we have another bathroom on the next floor, with more two sinks and two showers. You're the first person to say that. About the flexibility on the breakfast, you 're that kind of person that dont ask if you can take some thing from the table before the breakfast time, you just take it. Education. For your information we already prepare breakfast(see the reviews) before 7am. If you ask. Thanks
