Definitely one of the top 3 hostels I've ever stayed in!! Very friendly and the free caipirinha hour is awesome, a great way to get chatting to other people! One of the best features is the TV room which has mattresses and loads of cushions so it's perfect for chilling out when you can't be bothered to do anything or if you're feeling hungover ! Good breakfast served til midday and comfy beds! There's a swimming pool too, although it is very small. Only problem is the area is unsafe at night!
Amazing breakfast!! Also the location was good, the staff nice and helpful, really taking care of the people staying there.
We stayed at Galeria 3 different times in 3 different rooms. The hostel was clean and in a good location. The breakfast is really good and this was the main reason we came back! There are 2 different buildings. The main hostel seems to be more convenient to stay in as you have to get someone from here to let you into the other part. It is only a 1 minute walk between the two. There is no kitchen which is the downside but the restaurant is really good, but not always open. The staff were helpful!
Very loud music nearby (at least at the weekend).
The only problem with this hostel was that I was only able to stop for 1 night. The owner has taken real care attention in creating a great place for backpackers to stay and enjoy Salvador. The information booklet is fantastic and gives you a real sense of the ambiance the owner and staff are looking to create. Breakfast from 8 to 12 is a real added extra and probably the best I've had in Brasil. Would highly recommend.
An awesome hostel with a brilliant environment. I stayed in 3 hostels during my 20 day trip to Brazil but this was the one which promotes guest interaction as they organize many activities together which are good for anyone visiting Salvador!! They also provide a discount at Bar Zulu next door which makes the most tasty food in the area!! THE BEST HOSTEL in Salvador this is!!
I have been all over the world and have been lucky enough to enjoy some of the best hostels. This one "takes the cake," my first 100%. Fantastic atmosphere for chillers and partiers alike. A great little pool to relax in after a day's adventure. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. A perfect location, in the heart of UNESCO-proteected Pelourhino. And a happy hour deal that'll knock your socks off (all-you-can-drink caipirinhas for an hour!). Just fantastic. What a town. What a hostel!
This hostel is run really well and has everything you need. The staff even make your sheets everyday. They also update a boar daily on what is going on which is really helpful.
Best hostel we stayed at in Brazil - perfect location, great breakfast, free caipirinhas, good atmosphere - would highly recommend.
The hostel was perfect, great location in the heart of the historical center. Great breakfast until 12 with eggs included. The only thing that I would improve would be the space in the rooms to leave the baggage. There was little storage space in the 10 bed dorm, which made it a little uncomfortable, nothing that a good shelf can't improve. Definitely recommendable.

The hostel is located in the best part of Salvador 'the pelourinho'. They offer a great breakfast and the staff are always there to help. Great common room where you can lounge and meet other travelers, the free caprinha happy hour is a nice touch. The only downside is that the rooms are dated; the bunk beds are old and falling apart, the mattresses are also quite old, the lockers are tiny and the washrooms could use some updating.
It's a great hostel. The location in the Pelourinho is where you want to be but you do need to be wary at night. The breakfast is excellent and the hour of free caipirinhas was a bonus. On the negative side, I was in a bottom bunk and didn't feel particularly safe with the wooden supports from the bunk above coming out a few times. Whilst I was there for the World Cup and understand why hostels would put prices up, $115 per night was excessive.
I had a great time staying here. The staff was great and super helpful, breakfast was awesome, and the happy hour caipirinhas are SO good. Location is greta (right in the middle of Pelourinho) and Zulu and Spartan (the dogs) are adorable. I also enjoyed the "chill out" , and a bunch of people seemed to hang there making it easy to meet others. Only complaint would be about the beds. Getting on the top bunk is a challenge (no ladder), and they dont feel super sturdy. Still, i'd recommend!
Great location in the pelo area. Really funky little hostel w/ nice atmosphere. Great breaky and really helpful staff w/ plenty of info on what to do during your stay. Was not cheap due to the world cup but no complaints as our dbl private room was incredible for hostel standards. We had a huge room w/ a hammock and sitting area in it and the ensuite was adequate. Well kept rooms, no common kitchen and not a large common area but we preferred to explore so that did not bother us. Loved our stay.
Great location, felt super safe (thanks Zulu and Spartan), enjoyed every breakfast. Really appreciated how friendly, professional and helpful everyone on the Galeria / Cafe Zulu team were. Highly recommended.

Hostel Galeria 13 was an amazing place to stay during the world cup. The staff was extremely helpful, the facilities had lockers, and the caipirinha happy hour was a ton of fun. My one suggestion would be to people to a cheaper laundromat ($40 USD a load?!?!), if asked or allow patients to use the machines for a smaller fee.

Good things (far outweighed the negatives): Excellent, friendly staff. Excellent healthy breakfast in the morning, and good lounging room for watching the World Cup. Happy Hour with unlimited Caparinas was definitely a highlight. Areas for improvement: Most of the latches on lockers were too small to fit a regular combination lock. The reason I gave a poor review for value was because, like everywhere, they gouged during World Cup ($100US for one night in a six bed room!).
Very helpful staff. Very clean. Breakfast is good and until noon.
It might seems pricy compared to other hostels but It worth it! The breakfast is more than great, the owner and personnels are super nice, the place is well located and the caipirinha happy hour make the difference to make new friends as soon as you arrive and to go out into pelourinho ! One of the best hostels i have been to ! Will definitely come back to this place ! Thank you !
