Happy Days was absolutely wonderful, being only a few blocks from Vatican City and Castel Sant-Angelo...plus the staff was hilarious and I met people I will never forget

I really enjoyed my stay at the Happy Days Hostel, it was a really friendly atmosphere and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were made dinner and sangria during our stay which was lovely! However I do feel that the hostel could benefit from additional security measures, there are absolutely no locks on doors, and two girls that I met had money stolen from them from their rooms. Perhaps better in-room lockers could be provided?

Although I read some unsure comments on the staff on Hostelworld they seemed very nice- made everyone pasta in the evening and coffee in the morning, and let me leave my rucksack for the day after checkout. The morning after my night there I got up very early and went out so the cleaning lock-out didn't bother me. The common room and kitchen had a nice atmosphere, though Wi-Fi was patchy. Perfect location and not too hard to find (though hardly any hostels in Rome have much signage).

Be aware you cannot stay in the hostel between 10am and 4pm, because they close everything for cleanliness. Don't know why! The doors have no keys and some toilets stink.

I spent one night since it's well located, nearby Vatican. Everything is fine and public shower room is clean. But it's not quite comfortable to sleep the bed.

Me and my girl friend thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Great staff, gave us very useful information about Rome, we were also given soup at night time and coffee in the morning. Felt very welcome the whole stay, met some great people. Would recommend this place to anybody who is looking for cheap accommodation in Rome close to all the popular tourist sites. Cheers again guys! Donald and Kacka :-)

I spent over ten days at Happy Days Roma. It was a strange but enjoyable experience. Every day at around ten, the guys running the hostel basically wake people up to kick them out by eleven to do a full cleaning. They take apart the beds and thoroughly clean everything. Other than that though, the staff was very friendly and helpful and they made dinner and served sangria on random nights. The location was only a ten minute walk from vatican city and fifteen minutes from the main bus area.

This hostel was so amazing for me. Staff alway was so kind to me and everytime they call me 'brother' or 'My friend' at my mother language. They alway make me happy and give me big laugh. Of course we added friend by facebook each other so now they remain good friends to me. And in everyday they cleaned hostel and hostel is so close to vatican. And this hostel is near by metro station and bus stop.

A bit of an experience, this is definitely a party hostel, so if you want to sleep before midnight, I'd recommend earplugs and an eye mask and you'll be golden. The lockout is long, but you can be in the common area during that time, just not in the rooms, and even being out of the rooms by 10 isn't strictly enforced. The staff are lovely, and if you're friendly to them, they make you feel like part of their family. They even made dinner for us one night. Great location, would stay again.

A good value for the money. My friends and I literally walked everywhere to see the sites, but there is also a metro about 5 minutes from hostel. Pretty clean place, staff is friendly and helpful, and greet you in the morning with coffee. Only downside is they close during the day but it's for cleaning so it's understandable. I would stay here again

We stayed for 4 nights and they were awesome, excellent location, nice place (neat and clean), better staff, Justin was really cool with us (get him a pay rise). I think when it comes to hostels in Rome, it doesn't get any better.

Has the potential to be a really cool hostel but is ruined by a ridiculous rule whereby everyone has to leave the hostel for 6 hours in the afternoon. Utterly nonsensical.
