Nice staff, good location, but the bathrooms are beyond dire - the worst I've seen in 8 months of travelling.

The hostel was terrible for showers and toilets. Half of them were broken and they were rarely cleaned. The lockers were out in the hall and you needed a receptionist to get to your own locker. The staff were nice, but not informative at all. All in all, it was a dump.

The bathroom was dirty with doors that didn't shut, and the bunk beds felt dirty as well. The room was so stuffy with the amount of people in a small space that a window had to stay open, which faced the hostel's courtyard where the staff spent the entire night partying loudly. There were lockers but unless you brought your own lock you had to trust the staff with any belongings. Overall it was livable for the few nights, but not suitable for sleeping, and I've stayed in better for the price.

We also had the room right on the street. If we kept the window closed to minimize noise and vehicle fumes (yes, right on the street) we had no air....with the window open we had fumes and noise! Right outside our door was the computer bank, and there were always people using these!

La Independencia is located right at the main plaza which is definitely a bonus. The staff was very friendly but getting your breakfast together in the morning was a challenge one needed to ask for necessary items that were always i short supply. If you need a good night's sleep, go elsewhere.

The room was virtually on the street and therefore very noisy...but all the rooms are on the street.

Amazing location, just half a block from te main plaza, shopping, and food. One of the staff was an amazing asset in telling us where to go, helping with the room, and other things we needed. We ended up missing our bus home and she even went as far to book the new tickets for us! Very clean, I always saw someone cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, but the actually facility is a little run down. The breakfast is more or less cereal, so plan to buy more somewhere else.

No fan working in the room with intense heat & humidity, asked for it to be fixed & it wasn't. This hostel needs to be cleaned properly from top to bottom. We booked an ensuite room & are given a room with no ensuite. There's more but I'll save it for trip advisor.

Excellent location and lots of atmosphere, nice place to chat to others, excellent staff... the double room was nicely secluded and quiet. Excellent option!

This hostel is ok, but not the best. You have to have the staff let you in and out of the building and if they are not at the desk (they usually arent) you wait around. You also have to get them to unlock your locker for you. Since the hostel has a large capacity and usually only one staff, one computer that works, and one bathroom for every 20 people - it definitely wasnt my favorite place to stay. However, the location is excellent and the staff were friendly. You meet a lot of people here.

The hostel was great. The staff is super nice and you just can't have no fun, and since is far from the bars it's not a party hostel, so you can sleep and still have fun. It gets dirty but if you ask any of the staff members they'll clean it up for you. The excursions they offer are great, any kind of outdoor activity you can imagine: from wine tastings in the middle of nowhere to skydiving. Rasta Max is great! so are the rest the staff! I'll be back for New Year!!!! 100%

I booked a double room it unfortunaltely they gave us a double room wich had a glass door with a kind of curtain... no not very good for intimacy ! it was on the ground floor, just beside the computers where everybody goes... so we asked for another one, more expensive, on the first floor
