Come to this hostel if you are on a tight budget. Location is unbelievable, but beware of tthe the shower room, which has no lights, hot water, and friendly beetles. The rooms are quite dingy and sad, but oddly, I enjoyed my stay. The staff will mount a little chalkboard to the entryway with your name and country flag, which is kinda neat.

It would be nicer if it was non-smoking. Floors could be cleaner. The female-bath was out of order. It's quite worn-down. However, very close to Ueno staion which is important if you have to leave early for the airport.

For sleeping *one* night before taking keisei-line to Narita It's okay. I don't know for the women, but the gents were referred to the public shower/onsen, and is by any standard a nasty and disgusting place to be. Moulding in the walls and floors, and mirrors that are so dirty you can barely identify it as a mirror, proving that they do not clean regularily. I did not shower. The room is otherwise okay. Sorry about being so harsh, but if they clean up for the next guests, let us know.

This hostel was in a great location - a few minutes walk from Ueno Station and within easy access to convenience stores and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and friendly. While there were no extra amenities, the room and facilities were clean and comfortable. Yes, this was a hostel with a small room and shared bathroom facilities, but I was very happy that I stayed here. For the price I paid, it was a good value and the location was fantastic.

I am very accustomed to staying in cheap hostels in Japan and don't expect much for the price I pay. That being said sometimes I'm blown away at the facilities and other times, this was the first time really, I'm dismayed by the comparable price to the accommodations. The staff shooed me away before I had to explain in Japanese that I had a reservation. The bath was not in use and the shower room was dirty. The bedding was old and uncomfortable and it was dark and dingy.

Being able to sleep in a Japanese style room was certainly an interesting experience. The location was excellent, being just a 1 min walk to Ueno Station and so close to the shopping & food in Ueno. Free wifi was also awesome!!

I havent stayed at hostels in Tokyo, but this did not compare to hostels at which I have stayed elsewhere in Japan for less cost. This is a "hotel" vice hostel, but I would have rather stayed in a hostel with less privacy, but better facilities. My biggest concern was the limited hours on the shower room. Even during the scheduled hours, there was only 1 public shower room (no separators or curtain) for both guys and girls so the women would put up a sign when they were in there. Frustrating

The location is fantastic, 50m from the entrance to the large Ueno station, 150m to the parklands that are home to many of Tokyo's premier galleries and museums and surrounded by all types of shop. Staff are friendly and helpful in Japanese, but beware they speak no English. The rooms are warm but not very clean and the bedding did not look like it had been washed in a while. The toilets and communal bath were dilapidated and grimy. No parasites seen around, just dirt.
