The location is great, the staff is lovely, though they do not speak much english which is fine as they are helpful. Only thing is that security wise, there isnt someone at reception past 7 or 8 and you have to use a side door to get to your room and walk through dark construction. I felt a bit scared at night. We were also the only ones staying there one night which i was a bit worried about. I would suggest allowing guest to use main entrance always. Otherwise the place has a lot of charm.

Nice place with good breakfast and welcoming staff. As with any older building (and most iin Chile),bring earplugs, as the floors creak and the walls are thin. (We have been all over Chile and are light sleepers--just bring earplugs unless you wall yourself in a Sheraton). Gabriella was very helpful and speaks English well, though she was patient with our attempts at Spanish. Wifi good and hot water as good as can be expected in an old building ( be patient!). Plenty to eat nearby. Clean.

Great hostel, very cool building with lots of character. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good. Good location, close to lots of pubs and restaurants.

Nice enough hostel. Shabby chic is the thing in Valpo, but a bit of tidying up and some fresh paint would make this place so much nicer. We stayed in std double ensuite three nights. If you, like us, arrive from Argentina be prepared that the restaurants and bars you've been used to don't exist here. Food around this hostel is a bit pretentious, expensive and not that great. For your beer you'll pay 3/4 times that in Argentina! That said, Valparaiso is like no other place and we loved it.

Very good location, in the center of Cerro Concepcion, close to many restaurants and attractions. We had an interior room with no view, but very quiet - consider that when booking. Nice breakfast (included). Very nice and helpful staff. Recommended!

La Colombina is a fantastic choice if you want to stay at Valparaiso. Located on top of Cerro Concepción, you will enjoy fantastic views and atmosphere. Breakfast was great and the staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we had a small incident, somebody tried to enter our room and others while being there. The problem is that the main reception is not connected with the access to the dorms. It can be easy for somebody to enter without being noticed wonder around. Thankfully nothing happened

It is a great hostel in the hills of Valparaiso. If you want to be in the middle of Valparaiso this is a great pick. My only comments are as a foreigner its a little hard to find (as are any hostels in the hills of Valparaiso) and its a little cold in the rooms. The blankets are great, but it is still cold in the night. Staff is super friendly.

La Colombina is a fantastic place for a weekend away. Double rooms evoke Valparaiso's 19th Century past, with high ceilings, antique furniture, and very comfortable beds. The view from the rooftop deck is great and the new lounge/reception area has a working fireplace and very friendly staff. Quiet for backpackers looking to party or have activities planned in the hostel, but the breakfast is great. Highly recommended!

We were the only ones at this hostel. Its an older house that is creaky and cold. The heat was only turned on from 5-10pm. So we were quite cold! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good and was served in the restaurant area. I would stay here again but probably not in winter.

I was the first person awake and got about 7 min of hot water. The breakfast was quite good. The bedrooms are heated at night. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The receptionist was friendly and very generous with information about the locality and interesting things to do nearby. He even left breakfast ready for us when we were leaving very early in the morning.

This hostel was nice downstairs, but needs some serious work in the dorm rooms. There is no atmosphere and even less insulation. I was absolutely freezing! We were also the only ones staying in the hostel, so it was pretty creepy. The common areas really weren't very welcoming either, so we didn't spend much time at the hostel other than for sleeping. This would probably be ok in the summer, but they need to make some improvements for winter visitors!

A cute hostel that I felt is more suited to weekend getaways. The dorm room we stayed in was freezing but once under the blankets it was nice and cozy. Great little terrace. Kitchen for guests is very very basic. Lovely breakfast. Not much atmosphere at night and not much of a common area to hang out.

A nice hostel in a big old building with a lot of character, nestled in the hills of Valpo. As my stay was in low season and the hostel was quite empty, I can't rate the atmosphere so highly but I'm sure when full it is lovely. Beds were incredibly comfy and huge, breakfast was nice - appreciated the selection of fruit. I'm sure the terrace and patio are brilliant in the summer months.

I chose this hostel on the based on another review I read that explained how the staff had helped the person after they had injured themselves in a car crash, everything rang true as I found the staff to be incredibly helpful and friendly and they even offered their services with a problem I was having difficulty with. The hostel itself is great, particularly the reception and dining area, great decor and a hot fire for the colder times. Great place.

This was an outstanding hostel, an old building from 1900 with high ceilings, perfectly located in Valparaiso. Wonderful staff. A more than good breakfast with cheese toast, fresh bread, fruits, excellent fresh coffee, juice and more in a nice atmosphere decorated with art on the walls and a fireplace. You can spend your evening here in the salon with a nice fire, a nice chat and a good wine they sell here in there mini bar. Just the perfect place to spend your time in Valparaiso.
