The staff were wonderfully helpful and accommodating. The inner courtyard is a haven in a busy city. The fact that it's relatively small gives it a hospitable and personal feeling. The best rooms are very good but unfortunately face onto the street - not much can be done about that though the sound-proofing is very effective and if you're used to city noise, perfectly adequate.

Great Hostel with really friendly and helpful staff. Has a nice patio area, TV area and breakfast room. Breakfast is everything you could want and more. The free wine in the evenings is just an added bonus to a great hostel.
Free wine after 8pm from tuesday to saturday, nice breakfast, but wifi doesnt work on private rooms, they are outside the main hall of the hostel.
Helpful staff, though if someone recommends the restaurant Mr Chef, DON'T GO! Much nicer places around for the same price. Wonderful lounge area, and garden, which was lovely for the few days I was there as it was cloudy and rainy the whole time!
I spend 3 nights at this hostel with 2 friends in a dorm for 4 persons. It was a delight to be at this hostel, it is definitely the best hostel I have been in Argentina. The owners, workers and the 2 dogs were so helpful and nice with us. The whole hostel is extremely clean, in particular the bathrooms. The only bad thing I can say is that the dorms have no closet to use with a padlock, at least not a good one. They have also on well working PC with fast internet. The swimming pool is small.
I booked this hostel due to the high number of excellent reviews, and I was not dissapointed! The staff are amazing, and the hostel itself is lovely, spacious, clean, and socialble - without being a party hostel. the activites recommended by the hostel were great - especially the evening horse riding! Only slight issues were no ladders for the bunks, and not enough power sockets in the rooms. This hostel gets booked up, so book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Very chilled hostel with lots of areas to relax - makes it hard to leave! The staff were fantastic at organising tours and will do so on your behalf, they were also great at assisting with directions and telling you where to go. Downside was there is only two bathrooms (each one has a toilet and shower combined) and as it is quite a big hostel they really need to add a few more. Powerpoints in the rooms would be great also. Loved the backyard area with hammocks and small pool.
We loved our stay at Hostel Lao! It can be really vibrant or really chilled out (it's up to you). The owners are so friendly and helpful, they even offer free wine! They have a lovely back yard with hammocks and plenty of chairs and seats to relax and chat to other travellers, plus some lovely pet dogs who are very friendly. The hostel helped us organise some great day trips! We would definitely stay again!
Fantastic atmosphere. We stayed in the pool house at the back of the courtyard, and spent most of our time in the beautiful and very welcoming courtyard. Everyone seemed to hang out there in the afternoons. The free wine at 8 p.m. in the courtyard is a very nice touch! Big kitchen for cooking, though it was always very crowded at dinner. Location is a bit of a walk from the main drags, but not too bad, and close to the bus station. Staff was friendly and everything felt very clean. Great value.
A fantastic place to stay. The receptionist is incredibly helpful and has some brilliant suggestions of things to do in the area. Beautiful garden with hammocks, small pool, shady corners etc. Fluffy white towels are free to hire (a brilliant bonus). The free breakfast of bread, pastries, tea/coffee and local produce was great. I liked how the receptionist answered the door each time to let people in too; very good security. Would (and have been) recommending this place to everyone!
Awesome hostel. Really the best we stayed in so far. Nice people (a lot of Germans but so far only nice ones), a great atmosphere and a really really cool staff. Go there!
would highly recommend this hostel to fellow travellers. Mary & Rob Garell
Fantastic service, great location, incredible value. Would definitely stay again.
nothing to say really, best hostel I ever stayed at, not kidding...
Nice hostel with a great garden including a pool (which you need in Mendoza!) Rooms are good, including airconditioning. Every night Free Wine! Good recommendations for tours. Close to the busstation. Definitly recommand you this hostel!
Lao Hostel was one of the best hostels we had all over SA in 4 months. We liked the room : very comfortable and clean, the location: walking distance to center as well as to the bus terminal. The staff was very friendly and helpful - always open for questions. The hostel has a beautiful garden with a pool - a perfect place to relax and meet people . Wifi worked fine and breakfast was more than Argentinian average. If we ever come back to Mendoza, we will definitley stay at Lao again.
Great hostel, very relaxed vibe - small pool is great for refreshing yourself in the heat - free wine in the evenings is a bonus. Kitchen has everything you need, good breakfast - very helpful staff. Stayed in double room ensuite which was clean and well priced. Only downside for me was location which is near the bus station but not much else, if I were to go again I would say nearer the national park but loved this place.
Loved this hostel! A bit far away from the center, but not too bad.
Mike, Celeste and staff were great. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Mendoza thanks to these guys.
