Their supposedly legendary terrace was closed, which might explain the slow nights. Paceville is obviously out there, but regarding the hostel, the fun part lacked something (Pub crawls? a little game/trivia instead of TV killing the atmosphere of the common room? Maltese wine tasting? Crazy staff taking you out?) Huge lockers, showers in the dark. Bedbugs might indeed appear unexpectedly even on the fanciest hotel, but I got badly bitten on my last night, so I’d avoid the Sand room for a moment

The owner of the hostel is a very cool guy. Good location, close to Paceville and Sliema.

I spent some days at Hostel Malti in May, it is fantastic! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the location is excellent, the hostel is clean, and beds are comfortable. There is a good communal area where you can make friends easily. I recommend you this hostel, especially if you travel alone, it is very easy to make friends and socialize in this hostel. I really didn't want to go away, I felt at home... I will come back in the future.

For me, what makes the experience of any travel are the people, and the staff (as well as guests) of Hostel Malti was perhaps the friendliest I have ever met. I absolutely loved the atmosphere there. Everyone was very friendly & accommodating to the guests' needs. They treated everyone with respect & were more than willing to help guests familiarize themselves with the area as well as the island. :) The best hostel experience I personally have had.

Excellent little hostel despite being located up a few steep hills! Lots of really nice people staying here and the owner/staff were very welcoming and helpful in providing information on things to do, what buses to take etc. I think once they finish the roof patio it will really add something extra as well. Also, Its a great idea to do the dinners in the hostel as it really brings people together and also gives people a taste of some local dishes!

This was definitely one of the best hostels I have stayed in in Europe! It felt more like I was staying at a persons house than at a hostel. The two owners are super nice and they have a cook who can cook you breakfast and dinner if you want - all of which were very delicious! The atmosphere is really awesome too, you meet a lot of cool people staying here and everyone is really welcoming! We had a really fun BBQ on the beach one night too. I would definitely stay here again!

I enjoyed my stay here. It has a very good social atmosphere and you can get to know new travelers and have fun together. Sean is great in providing all the guidance about Malta and other staff are very helpful too. Not much thing to complain about except these days there's a construction outside the hostel which starts early in the morning, and the hostel rooftop is in construction too. Location is good and few minutes walk away from bus stop, supermarket and good restaurants and bars.

I didn't care for the showers at all because you have to keep pushing the knob or else they will turn off. I hear however they are building a jacuzzi on the roof, so perhaps conditions will improve. Overall the hostal is fine, and the owner, Chris, is extremely nice and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds are large and comfortable. The hostel is very close to St Julian so very good for the nightlife. It is also possible to walk along the waterfront to where the water taxis leave for Valletta. The people in the hostel are very friendly and it is a great place to socialise. We were there when it was slightly off season so I can only imagine how busy the place gets during the Summer. Thanks again for a great stay!

Great place, a real home away from home. Super comfy dorms, caring staff, nice kitchen and a nice desktop computer with a massive screen. Nice living room area with TV also, good for chatting with people. Ask them for the shortcut to Mcdonalds.. this will get you to the main part of St Julian's much faster, from where you can take buses to other areas.
