Hostel Mamallena Reviews

To few bathrooms and toilets for the dormrooms, kitchen is very old and they closed it for cleaning at 6.00pm. Prices of the tours are more then twice the price when you do it without the hostel. Further the stay was o.k. The Mamallena in Panama city is definately alot better!

Loved it. Really great hostel in a great area

Enjoyed my stay. Didn't get a room with a bathroom the first night which is what I had requested when i booked but I swapped rooms for my second and third nights. Generally very satisfied.

I liked the energy at Momallena's, the atmosphere was friendly and helpful by both staff and guests. In fact I'm getting ready to book another stay at Momallena's. Thank you for your professionalism and wonderful service.

We stayed at the Hostel for a week and noted there was loud music at night. I few days prior to St Patrick's Day, one of the staff informed us that that "they" were going to have a big party and it would be noisy as our room was above the office and that is where the party was going to be. We then took notice to the loud music at night which was also coming from the office. It appeared that the staff were mostly responsible for the loud music so we moved to another facility.

Staff was great! Extremely helpful, friendly, supportive & knowledgable-there was always someone at the front desk/entry area. They organize and support a variety of good events, inc BBQ nights and many tours. Large roomy kitchen.Numerous dif social areas to meet other travelers. We met people from other hostels in town who came to Mamallenas for info because their other hostel staff wasn't helpful and /or even available. Location is right near bus stop. We will gladly return!

Had a nice stay at the hostel. It was nice that I could stay at the hostel and store my luggage at the Hostel when I had a night hike to the Volcan Baru, even though I had checked out.

A really good hostel. Clean hostel with helpful staff in the middle of Boquete. The only criticism I can level is the size of the kitchen relative to the number of beds. Dinner time is crazy with far to many people in there at once, but this is a relatively minor issue

I was told again and again how beautiful Boquete was, but after a drive through a virtual factory lined road in, and no sign of beauty except a small park half the size of the one I frequent in my Bocas Town. Yes, freezing cold Boquete was highly overrated, but our stay at the Mamallena was better than expected and turned out to be about the only interesting place in town. I'd never go back, but if I had to, then I would definitely stay in this hostel again, Great value for your money.

Generally, I would have marked the location as excellent as Mamallena is located right in the center of town. However, the nightclub located just to the back of the hostal was exceedingly LOUD until after 3:00 a.m.! Otherwise, I would highly recommend Hostal Mamallena to anyone of any age. Even those in my age category (70s) despite the stairs. There's always a friendly young person who offers assistance. Very nice!

We stayed one night in a 2 person room with bathroom. The room was extremely basic, but definitely sufficient. With the window next to a local bar, don't expect to sleep early.

No hot water for showers

Great place with great people. The stuff taking care of anything you need and also arranged all the major activities in the area. You can cook in the hostel and also seat outside in the garden and have a beer. I really enjoyed my stay in mamallena. Thank you Miguel and the stuff for great hospitality!

The owner needs to go on a course on people handling ands how to smile and get rid of his attitude. I left my shoes in a room from which I was changed and they disappeared. I was the only one in the room. As I say I was shifted from a 4 bed dorm for which I paid and was movede to an 8 bed dorm. When I questioned this the owner got his attitude out and statred shouting.

So closw to the bus stop. They organize lots of fun and reasonably priced excursions every day. Staff was really helpful!

Average hostel. Bad that they say breakfast is included, but in fact there is only pancake-dough that you can bake in the kitchen. Also the personnel was not that helpful, there ''work'' a lot of backpackers that are not able to keep a proper administration. So, make sure you get a receipt of your payments.

The wifi is very poor. Lots of places in hostel were could not connect. They need to replace pans in kitchen. Very poor - coatings coming off. Health issue. Lots of noise from central park but nothing hostel can do about that.
