coming back from our jungle tour we waited at the hostel to leave for our flight later that day, staff at the hostel kept staring at us as if to say "get out". we left early just to get away from the hostel only to meet two other people who were on our flight and who were allowed to use showers and got towels provided. oh and when asked to book a cab, reception forgot completely. after 30mins we asked again and he finally booked it but ignored the driver waiting and did not tell us coming back from our jungle tour we waited at the hostel to leave for our flight later that day, staff at the hostel kept staring at us as if to say "get out". we left early just to get away from the hostel only to meet two other people who were on our flight and who were allowed to use showers and got towels provided. oh and when asked to book a cab, reception forgot completely. after 30mins we asked again and he finally booked it but ignored the driver waiting and did not tell us ...Close

The price in Hostel World is NOT the price you'll pay if you are not an HI member - knowing that I'd have gone to Hostel Trip Tour. The small fee mentioned in the confirmation email is R$5/person/night. Also, DO NOT buy boat tickets from the hostel. We were totally screwed over. R$180 at the hostel, which got us a R$100 ticket purchased from the vendor at the boat.
The reception staff are friendly and helpful, especially Fernando. The rest of the staff are unfriendly, even rude. The price in Hostel World is NOT the price you'll pay if you are not an HI member - knowing that I'd have gone to Hostel Trip Tour. THERE WERE NO PICK UP SERVICE THOUGH WE RECONFIRMED TWICE!!
Because the exchange was closed,(the arrival time was 4:30 in the morning),
we have no money(it was our first stay in Brazil) and we were completely at a loss.
We had to wait until morning if we didn't have a local friends to lend us money and send us to the hotel.
The owner sayed that "It was driver's miss (not mine)"
and never apology to us.THERE WERE NO PICK UP SERVICE THOUGH WE RECONFIRMED TWICE!!

There is a very poor security system there--the gate is open all day and at night it's not the best either. On a side street--can be sketchy walking there at night. There is a very poor security system there--the gate is open all day and at night it's not the best either. Really not a comfortable place to stay, or it might be the overall issue I had with Manaus. Booked 2 different rooms, 2 different nights. Both were private, one with bathroom. Do get AC if you can - it's necessary (although first room's AC was made ineffective by non-closing windows). No matter where you stay, it will be noisy. Nothing charming about the place - just a backpackers pit stop.Really not a comfortable place to stay, or it might be the overall issue I had with Manaus.
