It is the best hostel I've ever been! this hostel allows you to get acquainted with traditional life of Japan. It is situated in old wooden house but has all facilities you need. Staff is very hospitality and friendly. Yuya, thank you for your help! I would definitely recommend this hostel to everyone, and select it again when I'll be in Kyoto next time

Very atmospheric - staying in a traditional (circa. 100 year old) Kyoto house. However, downside to this is that there is very little soundproofing - you can hear people if they talk normally in the common room (muffled). Also, only one shower on the ground floor. Staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful - dog cute too. Worth a stay for the experience.

This hostel is a gorgeous small hostel, with traditional japanese rooms and also western style dorm. It is quiet easy to find even with no japanese language skills. The stuff is very friendly and helps whenever you need something. I spent over two weeks here, was the best time in Japan ever! Thanks to Yuya, Noriku, little Keta and Comeo!!! Will miss you!!! Krizz

A small functional hostel in a 90 years old building. Tends to be a little too cold on the way to the toilet but shower is awesome. It is located very near to Nijo Castle but a little further from Gion area. The is a Fresco mart within 5-8 min walk and you can buy everything there.

The hostel is very cozy and in an interesting neighborhood. If you're planning on taking the subway to the hostel, it is a trek, but it is conveniently located to the bus stops, which is the better choice for transportation here anyways. It is a smaller hostel, but kept nicely, and the staff is friendly. The beds have lots of big comfortable blankets as well, so don't worry about being too cold during the winter nights!

The room is too small fpr three perosn to stay.Because some weather reasons, the thirde perosn was stock in the airport in USA. However, the boss insisted to have three perons prize in the firts day. It was not goo information in your web site, I was very disspointed about this hostel and your website.

A lovely traditional Japanese guesthouse! We really enjoyed the stay in our beautiful room. Just remember to print the owners directions on how to get there as we forgot to do so and had some difficulties finding it the first time.

To sum it up easily the hostel is small and old (one shower shared between 3 rooms and two dorms ). We arrived at 8:00am two hours earlier then expected and were greeted by the manager. He was half asleep and told us not to ring the doorbell as it was very noisy and we could come back to check in at 3:00pm . We asked him to hold our bags and he then shut the door leaving us in the snow (rude!). My advise is to look at hostels nearer to the city as the location is not central for easy transport.

We had a comfortable and enjoyable time at Mundo. Yuya-san was friendly and helpful, and Tida-kun is such a gentle soul. The other travellers staying at the hostel were really nice too. Choose Mundo if you want a hostel that has charm and character!

One drawback: smell of diesel from the heaters. I am not able to accustom to this smell and it makes me feel dizzy very often.

great traditional japanese accommodation, full of charactor, you can still see the old structure.its 5mins walk from bus station (not train!). In Kyoto bus is much convinient. Friendly and casual staff. There is no proper computer for internet, but only a laptop, for me it was fine for checking emails though. We stayed in 6 bed dorm where layers of warm and clean duvet was provided. Enjoy the stay, love the character, will be back next time!

It is a very traditional Japanese house, full of character and it was great to stay there. The staff was very friendly and helpful, giving us a lot of practical advice and also a free upgrade from a normal double room to a traditional tatami room with futon! Definitively a very good hostel!
