Hostel New Ipanema Reviews

If you look for an easy Hostel in the heart of Ipanema, this is an ok choice. But apart from the location, they don't try to improve and the staff is not as helpful, as you might experience in other places. The wifi works alright and you can get a skype conversation going. There are good breakfast choices only one block away, since it's not included in the price. Value for Money? For this area yes, but don't expect to much...

I was a little disappointed that we couldn't use the kitchen... but mostly because the guy we asked when we arrived (night staff) said it was ok... and only AFTER we went shopping did we find out we couldn't cook anything we'd bought. Hmph. Otherwise great place. Clean, comfortable. No complaints! Thanks!

I've had a great stay on this hostel. The location is nearby of everything on Ipanema. You can do your things walking. It's interesting this hostel is inside of village with others hostels. Franklin was superb, helpful and easygoing with me. AC in all of the bedrooms makes all difference if you are in Rio.

THE STAFF ARE THE HIGLIGHT OF THIS SUPERBLY LOCATED HOSTEL. THE BEACH IS TWO BLOCKS AWAY AND GROCERY STORES GALORE. VERY CLEAN, NO BUGS. NICE TV AND COMPUTERS. REFRIDGERATOR FOR YOUR USE. AT THIS TIME THEY DO NOT OFFER BREAKFAST DUE TO LACK OF PROPER FACILITY BUT THEIR ARE MANY HEALTH AND SUSHI RESTAURANTS NEXT DOOR. AND THEY HAVE LOCABLE LOCKERS AND NIGHT GUARDS. NO BIG NOISES ALLOWED. I LOVED IT AND I AM 75 YEARS OLD. FIT MY NEEDS.

This is the best hostel that I have stayed at in Brazil. There is 6 other hostels on the same adress and no signs on the building so make sure you go in to the right hostel. The location is really good, close to the beach and still central and it felt safe. The staff is very nice too.

Had a great stay here, location is EXCELLENT and staff are very helpful. I\'d stay here again- despite cold showers and no breakfast. There is a shared fridge which is decent size but no stove/oven which in hindsight would have been good! Wi-Fi was mostly fast, bunks are comfy, a/c good. It\'s in an alley with about 5 other hostels so always heaps of great people around.

There is no staff. When I arrived a cleaning lady managed to find someone to check me in. He took the money showed me the room and I never saw him again. The next time I saw someone was when they showed up exactly at noon 2 days later to kick me out the room. The only thing that saves this place is the fact that it's on a little street where there are other hostels so you can ask questions and meet people. I moved to casa 6 as soon as my prepaid 2 nights were up. It's soooo much better!!!

I stayed here for Carnaval and had an awesome time! Franklin and the rest of the staff were really friendly and helpful. The hostel is pretty basic, nothing fancy, but they did a good job of keeping it clean and making you feel welcome. It's only a couple blocks from the beach and is in a courtyard surrounded by a bunch of other hostels, so it was a great spot to meet other travelers. Not sure how this place is when it's not Carnaval, but I had a great experience there. Thanks guys!

We lived in the double bed private room with a big balcony. The staff was great and very helpfull with everything. Its just 2 blocks from the beach and we felt very safe in the area

no kitchen, laundry service available, no microwave, pay for internet.

Staff makes for an excellent welcome and creates a very friendly environment. Excellent location, fair price compared to the competition however there is no kitchen. Would be nice to include breakfast as well like most other places. I would recommend if location is key. A great hostel if you're after a simple place.

Me quedé una semana en el hostel y me gustó mucho. El personal es muy amable, atento y está siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Me asombró la limpieza del lugar los cuartos tienen aire acondicionado y la ubicación es excelente. Lo recomiendo.

This hostel was horrible, staff were nice enough, but showers were freezing, actually hard to havea shower as there are only 3 in the whole place. No atmosphere at all and just felt not right, pay a bit more elsewhere. Oh and no breakfast

When we arrived something had gone wrong with our booking, which got sorted out in the end, but the staff didn’t really seem to have any idea about what was going on inside the hostel. Our room was filthy (read: condom wrappers on floor) and hadn’t been cleaned for days. The mattresses are also dirty and left me with itches in the morning. Showers are cold, also the ones supposed to be hot. The location is great, but for cleanliness you should stay at one of the other hostels in the same street.

Friendly staff and a very clean hostel. Double room (private) was the nicest double we have ever stayed in. Spacious with our own balcony. It was pretty cool. A perfect location 2 blocks back from the beach and also fantatsic for food, shopping etc just out the front door and around the corner. Not too big so not alot of people running around and staff ensure hostel is quiet at night for those who need to relax. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!

we picked that hostel because we wanted a private room in Ipanema and it was the only one left....I wouldn't recommend it. double room is expensive, not clean,only have 2 bathroom for the whole hostel. Ok it's not that big but it's still 1 bathroom for 15 people at least! Dorms don't really have a door, so you always have to be really quiet when going back home. Breakfast is poor and almost no one (except manger) speaks english/spanish so learn portuguese!Stay in Ipanema but another hostel maybe

Bad breakfast. No air conditioning in one of the dorms. Load. Cool organization, that means the entrances are not really controlled. So someone made love with a girl he brought back from a club in the dorm ! very funny but not really what you need from a hostel

Nice hostel, well located in Ipanema. Ive made a lot for friends there, Pros: Location and stuff Cons: No much to do rather than sleep there. So if your plans are just use the hostel to just go to bed, this good be a good option for you.
