I wrote a long review on my blog (http://www.travel-b.com/blog/2015/07/15/hostelling-international-the-hostel-pisa-in-pisa/) but the gist is this: Positive: - great staff (friendly but assertive) - perfect location (in walking distance to airport, train station and all sights) - air condition in the rooms - Wifi throughout - reasonably priced lunch/dinner available Negative: - just one sheet to sleep in - breakfast prices quite steep - no guest kitchen

Nice location, great stuff, but please invest some of the money you make to maintain the hostel. Starting from broken shower mounts in the bathroom, broken lockers in the rooms, falling apart billiard cues, broken table tennis rackets, and so forth. All of such does not cost much money to replace or maintain! Combined with the strict and unusual alcohol policy (one is only allowed to buy the low quality alcohol within the hostel, not bringing their own) there should be some money left to do so.

Thanks for your review. If you visit us now you'll see that the shower and lockers in your room have been fixed :) We also just bought new table tennis rackets and are about to orrder new billiard cues. if just everyone would play with them carefully without destroying them every 2 weeks, everyone would be more happy for sure ;) About the alcohol, 6€ House wine Bottle, 2€ Small Beer, 4€Half Liter, 1€ Shots and more than 10 different Italian and International Beer Bottles for 3€.

Staff and atmosphere were great. There is a great area outside to eat/drink with other residents. Only thing I didn't appreciate was the no outside alcohol policy since I had just come in from a Tuscany vineyard and I had bought two bottles of wine that I was eager to drink.

Really colorful and clean hostel with excellent staff. The receipt concept is a little strange and unnecessary to get back your deposit but otherwise very good.

The hostel is in a great location. Walking distance to everything you would want to see in Pisa.

AMAZING STAFF!! The facilities were amazing however WIFI is dreadful, have to re-sign in every 5 minutes. Buffet is 7 euros and is not worth it, no meat, basic food, mediocre. Staff were awesome! Really helpful and friendly, made good use of the bike rental and the laundry services, they were superb! We were in room 304, the toilet didn't lock, so privacy was compromised at times, beds were ok, pillows looked like they have seen better days, pool cues are so bad it actually hurts to think about!

We have been traveling across Italy and without doubt this is the best place we have stayed on italy, the staff, facility's and guests are amazing, we had such a good time there, the rooms are really nice with air con which is always a bonus and then later that night we all sat outside with the other guests and all drank wine and played guitar it was so cool, location is really close to the train station and not a long walk to the tower, I'd definitely come back to this place and highly recomend

I booked this hostel because they have "air conditioning" but I woke up drenched in sweat only to find out that the air conditioning was switched off in the middle of the night. The reception has control over it not anyone in the room. Also they don't allow us to be in the room from 12 to 3, supposedly because the room is being cleaned, but when we got back, they didn't even bother adding more toilet paper to the bathroom.also left my valuables in 1 of their lockers which turns out to be broken!

Thanks for your review. The air conditioning in dorms in centrally controlled in order to prevent dorm fights (trust us, we know that this happens). We choose a temperature that will be pleasant for everyone. Usually the comments have been that it is almost too powerful ;) We really apologize in behalf of the cleaners that forgot to refill your toilet paper on that day. We promise that we won't leave anyone without toilet paper though! About the locker, you should have just told us.

The most important aspect of the hostel is a good sleep. Over the past 1.5 years I've slept in hostels in dozens of bunk beds. This was my worst experience. The cheapest beds are picked apparently so that you feel every movement of the other. Furthermore, the hostel was a great place to stay.

Only there for one night but this hostel seemed nice. Had a good social area/bar which was busy the evening we were there. Beds were comfy and shower was good. Some areas weren't as clean as others but all in all not a bad hostel

Nice clean but only one bathroom waited turns for a shower but was ok, wifi good there was a kitchen and common room, close to bus to get to town just a short ride away

Only one bathroom PER ROOM you meant ;) just to clarify it to other people reading the review. Every of our rooms, dorms or private rooms, has its own private ensuite bathroom. We have never seen hostel / hotel rooms, with two bathrooms, but we have not traveled everywhere ;) Thanks for your review anyway

Great hostel! Very recommend! The location is very close to the Airport and the train station. Wifi works good and the staff were nice. The lockers is small(90 liter bad barley fits) and you must leave room between 12-15:00 because of cleaning. Overall experience was great! Good buffet by the way!

Great hostel with lots of at,osphere and extra perks eg table tennis outdoors, a large outdoor seating area which comes alive at night with a big outdoor projection of music videos, board games and rental bikes (for 5 euros you get a decent sorta bike). The only dumb thing is that they don't have a buffet breaks- instead it's a buffet dinner. The breaks you can get is over priced eg 1 euro for 1 banana.

Amazing hostel. Staff are always happy to help, it's clean, comfortable, modern, good food options (even for me - being gluten intolerant!). They rent out bikes which is handy, the hostel is so close to both the airport and the railway station. Would definitely stay here again!

wonderful place to stay! Pisa isn't just for the tower - this is an excellent base for day trips around the coast and into other Tuscan towns. The atmosphere here was really friendly and relaxed and I made some great friends!

An exemplary hostel is what it is.The bathroom is clean.Hot water runs properly. There's lockers for your things in the room to store it safely.Everything was either new or well-maintained.Beds were comfortable&adequately stocked with pillows, sheets and blankets.Staff was super-friendly,multilingual and approachable who all spoke good english.Nothing bad to say about Hostel Pisa.Best of all, especially for me when I visited at the height of summer in Tuscany, all the rooms had aircon(WHAT A TREAT!)

Unfortunately we had 4 poorly behaved guys in our room, leaving it hard to review in a positive light. Buffet dinner was good. Air conditioned rooms are a plus. Well located for transport. Not for the tower however, and really this is the only thing to see in Pisa.
