Stay in this hostel if you want a home away from home, right on the beach. Pamela, Vilpia and Chris very welcoming!! Very good caiprinhas, unbelievable magic tricks from the Boston the barman! Pamela cooks incredible food in the evening for only R$15. Can't fault this hostel.

Hostel Portunhol is the best hostel I have ever stayed at! Everything about this place is perfect. It's right by the beach, the rooms are clean, there is plenty of space and the staff are amazing! It's the staff that make this place so great. They are friendly, good people who are really great to get to know and have a laugh with. Pamela's food is amazing and great value. And there is even an in house magician, The Boston Joker, who is happy to show you a few tricks! We miss our friends alteady!

LOVED this hostel! Great place to chillout. NZ flag in the gate as we walked in. Staff v friendly and helpful and cooked a wonderful BBQ meal for all which was probably the best chicken we have ever had. Seriously. Very close to the beach (100m or less) where you can surf and the supermarket is close too. Found the kitchen manageable to cook in. Would stay again solid 9/10

We stayed for four nights and felt like at at friends house. Thank you to Chris, Pamela and the other girls for helping us with ANYHTING we needed and for the chilled atmosphere. We had a great time and we are happy to return to Portunhol :) Gracias por la buena musica, buena onda y buenos consejos!! ;) Matthew y Fran

Loved this place. Staff were so friendly, they cooked for us almost every night and it was cheap as hell and tasty as well! Security isn't huge but it's not necessary, the Barra is a lovely place. Friendly locals, although don't beat the kids at football (they get kinda upset!) All in all, great place!

Excellent people!! Despite was raining, It was a great week next to the people that I share with! Lovely place!!
